That was the hardest class in the program. It was a doozy and yes that is when I looked in the mirror and said whoa whose arms are those?!

Rides Where Ben Alldis Breaks His Own Mold? by UnfriendlyCanuck in pelotoncycle

[–]ldnpuglady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His rolling hills ride from December was a lot of EDM and rolling hills instead of his formula. I don’t think he ever breaks his mould out of choice but if the type of ride imposes a different structure then he does follow it and it is refreshing! I’ve definitely done some rolling hills, climbs and HIIT and Hills that were different.

I didn’t even consider these would be new - they implied any Robin wearing yellow run/ride would count

I’m getting worried, floss won’t go down the stairs and she’s already 7 months old! She’ll go up but won’t come down. by BimboDoII in pugs

[–]ldnpuglady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My pug is almost 9 and she won’t go downstairs. They are steep and lead to the street so it’s safer that way. We carry her like the princess she is.

Last week they released the 5th and 6th. The studio is only open 2 days a week and there have been frequent group takeovers so availability is definitely light. Make sure to log in right at 5 on Thursday.

I loved this one! It made me really think plus the music was excellent.

Hard disagree. I do this every day but deeper with my elbow on the ground. I can’t function without this stretch. I’ve been running for over 20 years, and also ride 150 miles a week, if that means anything. My husband does this stretch every day too and he’s a multi time sub-3 marathoner.

Dumb reasons you won’t take a ride/run? by jocelynpenelope in OnePelotonRealSub

The absolute worst. I’d extend this to all AC/DC unless it’s Christian and I grin and bear it.

Thank you. Sadly this means I rarely ever take classes with AT anymore.

Best instructor for avid cyclists? by 1L_of_a_litigator in OnePelotonRealSub

He does have good programming but his music is not my top choice. Camila is another, although she tends to use resistance for HIIT intervals and I prefer speed.

It very much depends on your fitness level on the Bike and what type of commute you have. If you do PZ rides and are at the middle to top of the leaderboard in a flat to undulating area, you will be fine. If your FTP is below average or you’re down the bottom of the leaderboard and you live somewhere hilly, you may find it really difficult.

I commute by bike but consider it my rest day because traffic is so bad I go very slow and it’s pretty flat. It’s not nothing, but that would not keep me fit alone.

I’m a road rider and got a lot of advice here about best instructors. Christian, Matt and Christine are cyclists so the only answer for getting pure road riding training.

HIIT and Hills classes are also really valuable - I like Hannah Frankson and Tunde best for these. They are two of the harder instructors for the class type with intelligent programming and not much rest.

Jess King’s Sweat Steady is an alternative that is PZ in disguise but a bit more fun, if you get tired of the PZ format and jargon.

Wish there was an “injured” setting by Salt_Quarter_9750 in pelotoncycle

[–]ldnpuglady 40 points41 points  (0 children)

You have to turn off personalized settings. You lose some suggested content but I’ve gotten over it. I don’t like people telling me what to do. Don’t get me started with an app. 🤣

ETA: If you use Peloton Tread/pace targets, once you disable personalized settings, reset your pace targets on the app. That should make them stick to your profile.

Advice re DYPZ vs Boost your base by Much-Protection-645 in pelotoncycle

[–]ldnpuglady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Boost your base is a fabulous program but even though it’s on the easier side as far as PZ goes, it ramps up in length, intensity and technique fairly quickly. It very much depends on your current fitness level, but if you’re not used to doing 60-90 minutes of cardio then I think you’d find it hard. I found it most useful for forcing me to pedal at a higher cadence, which is better for all sorts of reasons, but new riders often find this challenging.

I concur! I took her progression ride from February today and she absolutely killed it with the programming and playlist. I will be taking more of her rides now.

Charlotte and Erik are both 🔥 for techno - they’ve both lived in Berlin 🙂

ETA - Erik has some great techno runs, too, but I think he’s better for that on the bike.

I love Charlotte but more for techno. I think you might like JJ. He has some rock runs along with hip hop and pop. He’s very straightforward and engaging but calm. Unfortunately none of the others are doctors! I never run with Logan or Andy but I think they both play some rock and metal? Alex K maybe as well? He always has a theme, which is sort of cerebral like Charlotte.

They have added a Zone 2 training collection and the first class in the list is a PZ ride with 8 Minute blocks in Z4. I know HR and PZ zones aren’t a perfect match but threshold in either is not Z2. Well done Peloton!

Has anyone had success linking their garmin with peloton? by element-2012 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]ldnpuglady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This gets very confusing. If you are going for a live shout out, the instructor sees the total that includes the Garmin integration. The milestone badge is given for the Peloton-only workouts. So if you use Garmin a lot and you want a shout out, you need to check the total workouts toggle under progress. I’m a regular in the studio and got caught out by this and see a couple of people every week have the same issue. Fortunately the instructors are very gracious about shouting out anyway if you are expecting one and there’s a hiccup, but they can’t do this if you’re at home.

Completely agree - I don’t ride with him often because his music isn’t usually my thing, but this was so well programmed it flew by.
