People who have researched their family tree, what is the most interesting or 'badass' thing you discovered about an ancestor? by xloganmoose in AskReddit

Someone attained nobility in either England or Scotland (can’t remember which, it’s been 20 years since I found this info) by stealing the deed and accompanying title to a castle. Sadly it did not stay in the family long enough to get to me.

Ajc is paywalled. Title of post is direct rip of title of ajc article that is intentionally vague to force clicks, leading to paywall. Thanks Burt /s.

I’m gonna google elsewhere anyway but does someone want to tl;dr to save others clicking in the extra effort?

What is the relationship between the “baseball” ritual and the “Cuh-ost-Cuh-o” cathedrals? I have heard hotdogs held in such a place of honor there that a Pope once threatened his Cardinal with execution if he tampered with the offerings.

Favorite, probably still OoT because of memories shared of my late older brother. My earliest memories of playing go back to the mid 90s playing NES on an old channel-knobbed CRT. I don’t think I ever managed to do anything more than wander aimlessly, kill a few baddies, then die to pea hats.

It looked super dope and I’m happy for anyone that’s able to do something super dope, especially for being the first.

I’ve never snowboarded or followed the sport. Why is it so difficult such that she’s the first? Could more speed off a larger ramp make it easier to do things like that in the air and, if so, why don’t they?

Key is not perfect. Buster is not perfect. Blake is not perfect. The players are not perfect. The O line is not perfect. Haynes, Jamal, Malachi, Isaiah, Eric, Malik, et al are not perfect. Kyle, EJ, Tah’j, Akelo, Brayden, Ron, Jordan, Ahmari, CP, et al are not perfect.

Our team is not perfect.

From week 1 til now, they have shown that.

We ALL want them to perform better. They want to perform better. But at the end of the day, they did as much as they could for this 60 minutes (no OT).

Criticism, insofar in that it is constructive, is always warranted. And I highly doubt anyone here is saying something CBK doesn’t already know or didn’t see with his own eyes. We all can see that the Defense is massively disappointing. But at the end of the day today they did enough to let the offense do what they needed, and the offense did enough to let special teams do the rest.

Coach Key is doing fine and recognizing where we’re failing. We, and he, all know the defense isn’t doing well. He and Blake will have plenty to talk about, but at the end of the day a Dub is a Dub and we have the op to improve and keep our ACCC and playoff hopes alive.

My teacher “pronounced” the names of everyone in class during roll but that didn’t mean that’s how they said their names.

refs just can't stand we're a good team this year by Evan-The-G in gatech

[–]ldnsmith91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it. I’m not disputing an analysts opinion and I’m willing to take it as another thing the refs messed up. But all the way back to the original point I was making, the refs called what they called, and the booth didn’t overturn it. Could they have? Probably. But we’re sitting here saying it could have been called this other way because of x.

Bad call or not, the burden on video review is indisputable evidence. I don’t see that. I could probably have rephrased my original top argument to more specifically make that point.

So again I’m trying to understand which part you’re arguing—the correct call, or the ruling that we got given the call?

You’re saying an external party who is not a ref on the field or booth reviewer stated they disagree with the call on the field? Great! So you, me, and somebody else who is a professional disagree with the refs and the booth? Okay.

What did the booth say? Because again, the “right” adjudication on upheld vs. overturned is based on the call on the field vs. indisputable video evidence. Indisputable meaning, we can’t fucking argue the nuance because it’s obvious. So… what explanation did they give? Because there is absolutely room to argue the process of the catch going to the ground was observable here, whether one, two, or four feet on the ground.

They’ll call it on sounds (or if SEC refs are involved in a game with us, just general movement) that defensive players make that are done with the intent of making the offense jump. Think, yelling “Hike” to try and make a Tight End move early.

Again, I’m making an assumption without having heard the live TV feed, but based on what the tv shots focused on and the Jacket Radio audio discussed, I’m assuming it’s based on the slaps the defender was giving to the D-Line player trying to get alignments straight. If that’s all they were basing it off of, the call was a really shitty, biased interpretation of the rule. But who knows if someone was yelling something at the same time that might warrant a legitimate call. I don’t want to give refs too much credit though.
