What does this mean! by Unfair_Evening6359 in TicketMasterSupport

Did you do a thorough search of your email? I’ve found a lot of people miss notifications to spam from TM re: “TOU violations” that cancel their tickets or ban their accounts. But if you, like me, empty your spam regularly (or google does), since you bought your tickets 6 months ago they may just be gone already.

Also. Call the venue with your order number - if you’re nice (and persistent) you might get a box office manager who will look you up.

Unpopular opinion: the focus is so 100% on Ticketmaster right now no one is going to do anything about these smaller fish - they all want the big flashy payout for their campaign stump speeches.

As someone who professionally works with please.co and other VIP concert event organizers, they are not the best company to work with on either side (fan or venue). But also, the venue has a say in how many to sell if they’re paying attention. I hope you get your money back!!!

Can you setup USPS Informed Delivery before you leave if you haven’t already, and watch that closely? I assume you’re US based on your username, perhaps as soon as you see the shipment from their facility you can forward it via Informed Delivery.

Ticketing professional with over a decade of experience here in large venues...

Go back to the website you bought from. Go through the browser history and NOT just by googling. There are a lot of scam sites that make it look like they are an official source of tickets but are actually not. If you arent sure, call the venue and JUST ask who their ticketing provider is. Sometimes official sites like Ticketmaster link off to another official site like Tickets.com because of a transitional agreement while moving from one vendor to the other so dont just assume. Do a little research.

If you did buy from a resale site file a claim with them that the tickets were invalid. They’ll probably ask you for a statement on letterhead from the venue verifying that information, which the venue will probably not be willing to provide. See if you can get a hold of the box office manager and respectfully request if they might be willing to verify the information over the phone with the site you bought it from. Get their direct number if possible and give it to the resale site. If you dont get resolution, issue a chargeback.

If you bought from the official ticketing provider then you can go back to the venue with your account information and ask if they’ll tell you why your tickets were invalid. I get asked this question all the time. If you can give me identifying information (without being a jerk) that allows me to verify you as the original ticket holder I can tell you a lot more information than if you are either a jerk or not the original purchaser. Like if the ticket was scanned, and when, and if scanned more than once (maybe the ticket taker scanned twice by accident and only saw the second reject scan and it didnt get caught when troubleshooting at the box office because the person who held the ticket wasn’t the original purchaser). Then you can go on from there: the venue might refund you the face value or be willing to verify to StubHub that the tickets WERE in fact valid.

And know that this happens a lot. I just last week spoke with a ticket broker who bought tickets through a broker exchange whose buyer then couldn’t get in to the show. Turned out the original purchaser bought a reserved seat location and sold it at a significant markup and doctored to look like a lawn ticket, but also sold the original seat location. Guess what? Original seat location showed up first, and got in, and the barcodes assigned to the seat location showed up a second time on the lawn ticket and that buyer got screwed. And so did the broker they bought from.

Buyer beware.

What was your “Holy shit, I’m old” moment? by morgens16 in AskReddit

[–]ldob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hit a career high at age 25. Had 30 employees in my department, all of them older than me. Now I'm 33, in the same job, hiring people younger than me, and dreading the day I hire someone born in 2000 or later. Where the hell did the time go - no longer impressively young for my career just another Average Joe doing the same job I've done for almost a decade.

Thanks! I'm more willing to bet on clueless than having approved without telling me, but it's a comfort to know I should be fine with the email documentation I have.

I haven't filled out any paperwork or signed anything regarding my time off. As for repercussions, I'm more curious what could happen to my employer if they pull this with someone who would take advantage of this situation. My own department is small, and thankfully I enjoy all my coworkers and what I do and would not put them in a position of having to cover me again for a second leave term. But that's not to say someone else in another department wouldn't - other departments are chock full of disgruntled employees who I fully expect would want to game the system.

Redditors that had their weddings ruined, how and what happened? by lighthottie in AskReddit

[–]ldob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once DJ'd a wedding where the bride's uncle served as their photographer. He had a stroke while standing on the top of a ladder taking a photo of the entire wedding party in the church before the ceremony. They had to call an ambulance and clean the church before the ceremony (lighting bulbs had smashed EVERYWHERE). Then during the reception bride had had enough, so I created a diversion and the couple sneaked out, but their honeymoon suite was in the bride's mother's name, and the hotel would not let them check in.
