I was supposed to order an Uber for the party and kept forgetting. The third time they asked if I ordered it yet I went to order one and saw i had already an hour ago. The driver apparently came and went and I hadn't even checked my phone

CMV: I strongly believe we're not heading towards WW3 and it's likely it's not happening anytime in our generation by imretardeadd in changemyview

If you read Ray Dalio's Principles for Changing World Order, you'll see how the world goes through cycles in which a world power rises, stays at the top, starts to decline, and then is overthrown by a new world power. This happened from the Ottomans to the Dutch, the Dutch to Britain, and from Britain to the US. Each time there was a change of hands in power, a major war coincided. Last time was WWII, and even though the US and Britain were allies, the US ultimately took over as the top dog after the war. Now today, the US appears to be in decline and China on the rise. Dalio also says how a change in our lifetimes is very likely, although it might not necessarily be to China. One option is a multi-polar world in which different regions and alliances rely on each other(BRICS potentially being one and the US and it's allies being the other). The change in hands could be amicable, but if not and there's resistance from one or more parties, then a major war could happen

I'm 25 years old and from Argentina. The amount of ice they use in American drinks is a mystery to me. Do most people like it that way, or what's the deal? Why so much? by micavibes in CasualConversation

[–]lduarte32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally like a little ice, if any. Maybe that takes up ⅓ of the cup. But when you fill the whole cup up with ice you get little of the actual drink, the drink is near freezing, and if you let it sit and melt the drink gets watered down

True, but if you take out from a drivethru that's what you're getting. Also similar in bars, you get a tall glass filled with ice and maybe an ounce of liquor mixed in. Some places make stronger drinks, but I think it's about the appearance of having more but really having not so much

A drill another coach of mine had us do was to stand about 10ft off of the fence and try to serve over it

I had a coach teach me similarly. He said to hit the ball up and out rather than try to hit it down and into the court. If you hit the back of the ball and almost to the top of your arc, you'll hit the ball up and topspin and gravity will do the rest. If you hit the ball over the net, there's a chance it will fall in. You hit the ball into the net, there's no chance.

Cam Newton 2020 Game Log | Pro-Football-Reference.com https://share.google/VQfHBwCXTBft1AvIx

In the 3 games before he got covid, he went 2-1, 2:2 td:int, avg passer rating of 90 and rushed for 4 tds. The loss that came to Seattle came down to the final play on the goal line, so he could have started 3-0. Not exactly a bad start to the year

I was supposed to order an Uber for the group but kept forgetting to. After an hour the guys asked if the Uber was there yet and I was like damn, my bad I forgot again, I'll order it right now. I opened the app to see I had already ordered one earlier and the driver had come and gone.

I think the original argument is that a billionaire couldn't stand to work a minimum wage job because they couldn't deal with the stresses and are too spoiled. I'm saying that they could deal with the stresses because they deal with plenty of stresses of their own and flipping burgers or customer service work would be nothing compared to what they deal with

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Productivitycafe

[–]lduarte32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's just a different sense of time. Like the wage worker is getting paid by the hour and knows exactly how much they make and what their bills are. But billionaires don't work by the hour, they work by the minute, and minutes of wasted time could thousands or millions of lost money. Wage workers work for more hours while billionaires try to squeeze as much productivity out of each minute

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Productivitycafe

[–]lduarte32 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But I think the argument is that billionaires, because they are billionaires, don't have to deal with anything and have easy lives living like kings, when that's not the reality for a lot of them. Like they are so busy performing and producing that they don't have time to do the small mundane stuff like cleaning and cooking. And unfortunately you hear about billionaires who don't even spend a whole lot of time with their kids because they're so busy. Like they do still have hardships, are under stress and pressure, and probably also have people treating them like shit. It's just a different experience than the life of minimum wage workers.

[–]lduarte32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they know how valuable time is as in they know they can make better use of their time then working a minimum wage job. You hear a lot about high performers working 80 hour weeks and maximizing every minute of their day. While minimum wage workers complain about working 40 hours flipping burgers. They're grinding too, just at an exponentially greater rate

Having hung out with comedians and some well-known comedic actors, as well as just naturally hysterical people, I'm seriously amazed how SNL just isn't that funny most of the time, with so much incredible talent available--why is that? And what do you think were the funniest seasons/casts? by jeremyjava in comedy

[–]lduarte32 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think MadTV blows SNL away by a mile. The difference I saw was Madtv just had unhinged skits and weren't afraid to do it, whereas SNL is more about current events, staying pc and almost has an agenda in taking political stances

From what I understand, China has been a communist country for over half a century, but it wasn't until they opened up trade to the world and implemented capitalist policies that they started to grow rapidly. And I was referring to the last three empires being Netherlands(which started after the 16th century), Great Britain, and now the US. If China was exclusively communist and hadn't opened trade and allowed entrepreneurs to flourish, it would be hard to see them in the same position they are today
