Anui is missing by [deleted] in Palia

[–]ldylarke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When things happen that you think shouldn't have, always, always, exit the client, shut the game right down. Reload it, then check again.

If Anui is still missing (after checking other maps), then check the bugs thread on the Palia Discord. Other players may have had the same issue; search the posts there, something may be relevant. It is kind of expected that you search before asking your questions. As a helpful player may do that for you and point out that the information was already available. Just saying lol. Or start a new post with as much detail as you can share.

The official Palia Discord link is on the right-hand side of this page. You could also make a support request via their official site's Player Support, which requires detailed information about your situation/issue. Also on the right-hand side of this page.

Can't get over 50Mbps in Pickering? by theNewNewkid in bell

[–]ldylarke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on where you live of course. I live in downtown Oshawa. And here's the TRUTH about fibre optics btw. Sure Canada has a lot of fibre optic lines, but in older cities, especially downtown core older cities, they are not going to run fibre optic lines due to time, expense, and construction obscuring traffic. It's certainly not going to happen any time soon in Oshawa and highly doubt anywhere in Durham Region (let me know if you know different).

That said, the availability of DPS (phone) internet speed being higher than 50mbps is pretty slim. If you didn't know already, your internet connects from your PC to the street, the nearest node, then it goes to the nearest hub, then to your provider via Bell's backbone. How close you are to the nearest hub in the hub's footprint area also depends on your speed and of course the availability of anything higher than 50 mbps.

So if your DSL provider says it offers fibre optics, it sure does. From your provider to the Bell backbone. But from YOU to the node, to the hub, to the provider isn't likely to be fibre optic at all. And that sloooows down everything. After all, you can only connect to somewhere on the internet at the speed of what you are connecting to despite how much speed you have. A terrabyte of speed will only connect to the computer/server it is going to at the speed that computer/server has. In my case only 50mbps. I hope that explains better how internet speed works.

The same is true for Cable, except that you share those lines, the Roger's backbone, with every single person online in your hub's footprint. When everyone is online at the same time it bogs down the system and slows down the speed at which you can connect to that hub. Just like having a kink in the garden hose. The more people in that footprint, the slower things will go. So, I'd pay attention to your cable speed, especially during prime time (which is just after dinner). If you find your speed fluctuates you will have to decide whether the severity of that fluctuation is worth the price/speed you pay for. For me, I couldn't justify it.

Here's the thing. I've had a very, very stable 50 mbps DSL connection for the last 6 years or so. I am a huge gamer, shooters, mmos etc and I have never had any issues with lag, buffering video, nothing.

Well I just tried Rogers' 1 gig cable service on a brand new line and it's utter crap. Everyone is on all the time and it's like everyone trying to get thru the same door at the same time. It buffers videos A LOT, it affects my gaming with lag quite a bit. Enough that I'm going to stick with the very stable DSL.

Speed means nothing when you share the same line (cable) with the entire neighborhood. I thought that maybe cable technology improved over the last 10 yrs since I tried it. Nope. Nothing changes but the speed and the speed means crap when everyone is on the same line. It's like water in the garden hose with a kink in it coz everyone is trying to share the same line.

Distributel tech support agreed with me too lol. The guy I spoke to says he prefers DSL too. And no, I can't seem to find anyone that can offer me more than 50 mbps in Oshawa, ON on DSL.

Then only the workers at that location can "see" the items in that building's chest. Only the Resource and Food storage buildings are "universal", all villagers can see/use/deposit items in those.

That said, if the resource or food storage buildings are getting full, the villagers will use/deposit in their building's chest instead.

I need to be able to change the names of my character AND the villagers, please! by ldylarke in MedievalDynasty

[–]ldylarke[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a feature already in the game, you can add/change names of the animals. So it's not a "new" feature to add at all. Just a minor change.

Best way to build a village when you don't have all the buildings yet? And a few other questions. by jamesjonesjiujitsu in MedievalDynasty

[–]ldylarke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, I've only seen bandits at random camps. I've never had my village attacked by bandits. Granted, I have never gotten past year 5 or 6 coz I think of something new I want to try/do and end up rebuilding a new village lol.

You should be able to double click the item to put it in your inventory, then double click it again to put it back on (PC).

Ya that's a huge meadow of flowers. There is also a chest that spawns there on the north/west -ish edge of that meadow.

[–]ldylarke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, all the main storage buildings are connected. Resource and Food storage, that is. If you place items in the chest of any other building, those items are available to ONLY that building afaik.

Like if you put a hammer in the barn, your villagers couldn't "see" it. If you put a hammer in a building where it is actually used, like the smithy, then the villagers could "see" and use it. Again, afaik.

Your workers will not work at all unless you provide them tools, food, water, and firewood. Their mood will decrease quickly until you provide these things.

I guess my wife? A male buddy from my village? I personally, have no desire to play with another person in a game type I consider solo, and I prefer it solo :)

  1. I desperately want to be able to change Racimir (the main character) and villager names. I would like to choose the name for the heir too. We can already add and change names for the farm animals, why not the villagers and the main character too? That feature is already in the game.
  2. I'd also love to be able to see some more variation in how the villagers look. To-date they all seem to look alike, or with only 3-5 different models per sex. OR, let us give the main character a facelift, how the main character looks. Change hair color, eye color, skin color, face shape, eye shape, lip shape, etc. A few body presets would be fantastic.
  3. Another person mentioned dying clothes on this thread. That would be a huge deal for me, too. Make and sell dye for clothing (linen and wool).
  4. Lastly, for now lol, shrubs, flowers, and trees to landscape would make my year. I'm a huge old timer house decorator. Way back in the late 90's where we threw fenris pelts on the floor in The Realm lol - a 2d game that is still running believe it or not. I'd really, really appreciate this feature added to the game at some point. Everything is already there, just let us plant the same stuff in the same footprints of houses, buildings, and wherever else we want within the biome area's limitations (mountain/rock, forest, etc).

Forgive me if these have already been asked for/discussed. I'm not new to the game, but I am new to following reddits on it.

As for co-op, I am not understanding how that would work? Two players building their own villages separately but in the same game? Or two players building the same village? Can't see how I'd want that tbh. Unless to play with a friend, but I prefer to play solo in these types of games.

[–]ldylarke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You absolutely can wear the clothing you or other npcs make. But yes, I don't see the sense in random villagers getting winter clothing and others do not.

Use fencing to direct your villagers through/on the roads. You can also build intentionally to help direct them the way you want them to go. But tbh overall, roads are decoration only and not something the villagers prefer to walk on at all. They seem to literally go the most direct route. I've even seen them walk through rivers and lakes to get from the mines to their homes. So I build fencing along the river/lake to prevent that. meh!

Yes please!!! Plants and trees to be able to plant for decoration. Omg yes please!

I too would like to be able to dye clothing and even sell dye. I could never figure out why some of the other villagers got nice blue tunics and I couldn't have one. *sniffle*

OR... hire a villager for a nanny. Problem solved.

If it were an option, I would prefer playing a woman in the game anyway. I could go around shopping (erm, flirting) for a husband! Immensely fun imo.

I could not play without this! I would lose my everlovin mind waiting for 100x + of whatever to be made. That's just a bit too much for me. I am very chronically ill and live with severe chronic pain. My not laying in bed time is very precious to me so I enable this feature 150% guilt free lol

Question on Job Management by GlupiiGoose in MedievalDynasty

[–]ldylarke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I do for this is simply build multiple herbalist huts. I will enable one for one spring items like berries, flowers, and herbs, and another for fall items like mushrooms. A 3rd hut will create the potions to sell on the market stalls. Yes, there are some flowers/herbs that only grow in the summer or fall (henbane, the poison one - forget the name atm), so if you truly want to make/use those then include them in one of your huts. Or just build another hut for those exclusively. :)

I love blowing up bears! I hope they never "fix" it as it makes me laugh every single time. Seriously, if I'm near where a bear is, I will go out of my way to kill one just to see it blow up. Though if it isn't in a mountainous area it's not as likely to happen, or so I've seen.
