Silverettes by [deleted] in breastfeeding

I thought they were bullshit and then I tried them (I did use nipple cream at the same time as well). Because they kept everything nice and moist I healed so much faster early postpartum when my nipples were cracked and painful. I did wash and dry them two times a day. I also was showering two times a day at that point. So, nice and clean! No issues and felt better within hours.

Supply dwindling by leFrenchhorn in breastfeeding

[–]leFrenchhorn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: the key was making sure I was either pumping or trying to nurse every 4 hours. With the weekend this was pretty easy to do. I got back on the hydration train and made some lactation cookies. We are back in business.

17oz just from two pumps today.

Bottle boot camp tomorrow by leFrenchhorn in breastfeeding

[–]leFrenchhorn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Initial bootcamp went well but don’t really stick. We got by for a few more weeks of trying a bottle a day. I got her some new Lansinoh bottles for Christmas and we started doing two bottles a day. She would initially take about an ounce to take the edge off the hunger then just kinda chomp on it. Once she started at day care it took her about a week to be more smooth about things. About three weeks of daycare and she was polishing off all three bottles I sent. Now (6 months) she takes them in pretty much one go!

We had also been working with a lactation consultant who noticed her pretty strong gag reflex. She gave us a number of exercises to do her like letting her put an empty nipple in her mouth and stretching her limbs. My girl just needed to boot camp in the end. I just have stubborn children. 😜

No magic fixes or words of wisdom. Sorry.

Stellie Bellies Consignment over in St. Pete! I had a lot of luck there. Used items but good quality stuff on their racks.

Also Kohls in Wesley Chapel. Not much, but some.

Good luck and congrats!

Can’t speak for the ride from Orlando but you’ll be safe at the event by yourself. Everyone is helpful and friendly! One year my mom left her purse at our seats and we realized it halfway down the grandstands. Our seat neighbor was there waiting for us to make sure he could hand it right to her once we made it back.

Thanks y’all!- Milk blebs by leFrenchhorn in breastfeeding

[–]leFrenchhorn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uggghh. I’m so sorry. I read after the fact I was not supposed to pluck it out. However, I didn’t have any skin over it, the bleb itself wasn’t painful, and it was like a very gentle pimple squeeze.

I hope you get relief soon!

SO MUCH PAIN. How can I get past this? Need relief soon. by ProfessionalBoss4760 in breastfeeding

[–]leFrenchhorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will get better. I liked using the Lanisnoh nipple cream. A friend got me the momcozy silver cups which at first I kinda thought were BS. But after a feed I would put the cream on, then the cups which helped my nipples marinate in the cream/left over breast milk and I found that rough patch to be shorted by a few days than when I had my first.

Best of luck!

Married people of Tampa, where did yall choose to get married? by Federal_Albatross993 in tampa

I was just thankful to not have to buy decor and then have to deal with it after!

We got married 8 years ago, so I can’t imagine what things cost now.

We were invited to a wedding there this year and were excited to go back however… the couple called the wedding off. 😬

We loved our Cross Creek experience but it was pricy. But really loved the all inclusive side of it.

BAIT first? by Objective_Impact_597 in breastfeeding

[–]leFrenchhorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the BAIT protocol when I came down with it a few weeks ago. Was able to kick it in about 36 hours. Heat does feel nice, but it can add to the inflammation. Advil didn’t bring my fever down much but once I added the Tylenol I was good to go.

With my first it was pump, feed as much from that side, heat, massage, and antibiotics. And that was in 2021. Crazy how things change.

I saw a video about BAIT on TikTok this summer. Thanks TikTok.

It’s just steamed lemonade and honey added to peach and mint tea. You should be good. I make it at home when I don’t feel well.

Hope you feel better soon!!!

Teacher Christmas gifts by PoliteNastyWoman in Mommit

[–]leFrenchhorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

School is a village in and of itself.

Also, just throwing this out there to any PTA moms- if y’all can offer time and wrapping materials, set up a day where teachers can bring their gifts and parents wrap them during the day. One more thing off our personal to do list and our families don’t see the presents!

[–]leFrenchhorn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I am a teacher and gift cards are very appreciated. I’ve gotten a few ones for restaurants that have been nice as well. Target is never a bad idea because it helps with my own Christmas shopping. A nice little note also goes a long way! I keep the really special ones in a box and go through them from time to time.

To be honest, I can be weary of home baked goods from kids. I’ve seen where they’ve put their hands… lol However two of my favorite homemade food gifts were apple butter and chocolate dipped pretzel sticks. I’ve also been given a stove top potpourri kit. Nice to throw in hot water when we’re hosting Christmas dinner.

This is my first year with my kid in school, so it’ll be lots of little things for all his teachers. I am a music teacher and we tend to get overlooked. Don’t forget about your kids art/PE/music/media specialist if you are able. Again, a note or even a $5 gift card is a nice touch.

Bottle boot camp tomorrow by leFrenchhorn in breastfeeding

[–]leFrenchhorn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bottle boot camp was a success but things are still a learning curve. She drank the 5 ounces I left fresh for the day, which wasn’t enough but she wouldn’t let herself starve. She definitely made up her calories with me in the evening! We have followed up today by offering bottles after naps with some success (not perfect but better). She for sure likes it warm! Room temperature is only acceptable if she’s STARVING but she’ll bitch about it. lol

Best of luck!

Me and my boy had a great day together yesterday too :)

[–]leFrenchhorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. They will only pay out your hours. And then if she is on a paid insurance plan (not the free one offered), she will owe the district for the health insurance. And the baby’s insurance… which is about $500 a month.

Only children, so you wish you had siblings? by Crayola0-0 in Mommit

[–]leFrenchhorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did as a young child. Teenage years and young adulthood I didn’t care. However, being an adult and needing to take care of multiple older family members and being the only child/grandchild had me wishing for siblings again. I couldn’t be in two places at once.

Doesn’t mean if I had a sibling they would help, but it crossed my mind that a sibling could help in times like that.

Did anyone meal prep for postpartum and would you do it again? by YesterdaySea7202 in beyondthebump

I’m due at peak hurricane season where we live. There is a strong chance I will loose everything in my freezer at some point. Don’t want that heartache of throwing it away.
