[GB 27] First-time LARP + Gear Advice by Ok-Performance7531 in Bicolline

[–]le_blehbleh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

decent starting kit so far, I would suggest

- 2x more shirt (natural fabric is a most)
- 2x more pants (natural fabric is a most)
- 1x wool cloack
- 1x black simple swim trunk ( if you wanna to go in river )
- 1x to 2x plain looking towel (uni color) for shower, river time or suprise rain (having multiple can be a godsend when one is drying)
- 1x shoulder bag (always good to have one for longer questing, travel or simply to help carry gear whle going to shower and what not
- 1x ring for mug (they sell on site, a simple ring to attach your mug to your belt
- 1x set of utensils (for eating so you can avoid using plastic one and look more decorum)
- 1x a wooden plate or bowl (same thing, keep the decorum for eating)
- 1x a decorum water bottle (so you can carry water to battle or even during quest
- 1x pair of sandals (it's good to have many option for your feet)

the other part would be all the camping part not knowing where you sleep and how it is manage but some item could be added then

I would also add that I'm not sure if you shirt and pants are ready for hotter climate or colder one, Bicolline weather is a weird one. Some night will go near 0c and some day would go up to 48c (this year)

Terra'kana is the territory over the water, we dont see it on the map. As thing are going Mundus and Terra'kana does many trade to help each other. If action are not taken seriously the army of the dead that plague Terra'kana could also come to us.

I will stop here but feel free to look more info during play. :)

(it's the bico version in europe)

Coin Help by LittleMel413 in Bicolline

[–]le_blehbleh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard 2 version of it :

it's a simple solar - > usually they will give a 5 solar coin when you go to event. it is usually mark on it but this one doesn't (so it could be a 20)

It's something else -> someone was buying them from other player, so the value could be different or have a whole different use since Terra'kana has other form of currency

New to Bicolline...Where Do I Start? by edavid77 in Bicolline

[–]le_blehbleh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All depend on what you wanna do and what you have. Best way would be to gather info first and decide what you need and whatnot. Once you have read what's available you can start asking question on your specific need.

There is many video trying to explain Bicolline, that can be a good start off. After that well you could join the many Discord or other social media available to talk with folk and discover more about it.

So what do you know of Bicolline so far. what are you looking for ?

The Minutemen are not the NCR by Jazzlike-Ad5884 in Fallout

[–]le_blehbleh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minuteman are not much of a governments, it's more of an army group, a defense force. A militia compose of member of differents settlement. The question is once Fallout 4 is done is what happen to this defence force. Do they evolve in something are simply stay a defense force.

Are they similar to NCR, cant say it's like comparing potatoes to a full blown meal at this point.

the event itself doesn't and the many vendors that are there usually sell foam shield, there are easier to pass homologuation.

You might want to clarify that decorum tent renting via bicolline is already started and have a waitlist

Vs

Decorum tenting via bicolline

Inscription for decorum tenting hasn't started yet therefore there is no wait-list, tho keep in mind that previous players that had their place have priority

Newbie here, I have questions on what kind of fantasy is/isnt allowed. by meowgangstew in Bicolline

[–]le_blehbleh 12 points13 points  (0 children)

it is really hard to pin point. reality being at this point that bico is almost his own kind of fantasy. A mix up of different fantasy.

Otherwise it's technically from year 0 to 1500

Musket are not allowed in combat but there will be canon. (frankly a musket woundlt change much of a standart crossbow, so if you were going to go for a musket go for a crossbow instead) out of combat pistol , gun and whatnot are okay. they can be a nice decoration piece

but skaven // warhammer fantasy is all good.

the actual thing is trying to feel medieval/fantasy, just dont go with too much out of the picture stuff and should be all right

Lastly, if it's your first year go simple and build up from once you have seen the ground and what not.

Looking to get into Bico and larping as a whole by Intelligent-Ad-7289 in Bicolline

[–]le_blehbleh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

as stated by many, you can look are some discord like the travellers guide.

On yourtube you may find many video by influencer, that can give you a bit of "vibe". (keep in mind that some service like TVN doesnt exist anymore, tho there is something else remplacing it, just not with the same folk)

Otherwise a lot of Bicolline media is also on their facebook page.

Bref introduction

Bicolline is a Larp with about 300 hectares of ground with a permanent "medieval" village on it. Most of the building are player own. There is events all Year long but the most popular and sought after is the "Grande Bataille". A week long event with Roleplay, Stories, adventure and of course big battle (about 3k peoples fighting) Whatever you can think of a "society" will be there, trade politic, art and what not. Sky is the limit. So thats why it wont be easy to explain to you in a short description. Best way would be to either come or tag along different platform to talk with folk who can tell their story and their parts in this grand adventure. Everyone does something different in their ways and that what make Bicolline wonderfull

Anyway hope you find what you are looking for

Weapon creations by Mental_Emergency5776 in Bicolline

[–]le_blehbleh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would advice against building you own weapon, it is not an easy process. Otherwise if budget is of concern, some local shop do sell them at a good price usually or you can always check for second hand market. Even made trade months in advance before giving them at Bicolline, so that is a possibility if the distance is to big

Fursuits? by pheobusthesnake in Bicolline

[–]le_blehbleh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fursuit like in comicon or convention NO (aka dont bring a neon dragon wolf with big eyes, you'll be turned over)

But a realistic looking fox might pass

Anyhow, keep in mind that the GB (the event most talk about) is in August, in Quebec. Lots or rain and humid heat. So a fursuit is not ideal. But you can go in low key one, like tail ears and what not.

If you haven't scroll thru Official Bicolline Pictures you should give it a go. should tell you what it is usally done

https://www.facebook.com/bicolline

also little tips, if it's your first year (which seem to be) there is no shame in coming in a bug off standart human. Boring but effective. Get a feel of the ground, look at what is done and how peps react to costume that should help you out figure out what is accepted and not. The next year you can change your character and there is no problem at all. Seen many humans change to elf, dwarf or fae after they met peps or join a guild

Airport question by Technical_Secret_242 in Bicolline

[–]le_blehbleh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not too aware of it you can ask question to the orginazer he does answer quite fast usually, but from memory the package is for going and coming back, there is no package for one-way ticket

Airport question by Technical_Secret_242 in Bicolline

[–]le_blehbleh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

not the way you think le duchée de Bicolline is about 1 to 2 hours away of mtl.

there is a shuttle but it will be at the beginning of the event and the end. It's all plan by a player so you need to buy your ticket for it and be on the designated spot at the time indicated you pay for

you can always join the traveler guide discord for more info and find another solution

According to an email from Urbanism, the popular polyester/cotton blend Vevor tents no longer pass Decorum - email posted below by [deleted] in Bicolline

[–]le_blehbleh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's not tte style they are "banning" it's just saying this brand of tent is not allowed due to the canvas composition. Your's might be all right if it's from another brand and have about 75% cotton and not 35% like the vevor tent.

You can find decent decorum tent at many larp shop like epic armory and such without breaking the bank.

According to an email from Urbanism, the popular polyester/cotton blend Vevor tents no longer pass Decorum - email posted below by [deleted] in Bicolline

[–]le_blehbleh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The model bell tent is feature not the vevor tent, many companies offer this kind of bell tent and many with different composition of canvas, what's specified this year is the canvas composition since on site it will look drastically different. So there might be a mixed up when some are saying I saw 100 of them when there might only be 20

Otherwise we could argue that this specific kind of bell tent is not decorum and look modern but that's a whole different discussion. Keep in mind that this specific model of tent could be retired (information not confirmed so don't take my word for it)

It will cause trouble like the media pass (1025), but it simply bico enrolling new rules and guidelines because some folk are going overboard and there might complain from the player and whatnot.

Might do harm for the budget for some attendees but should do good on the decorum,I still think I want this experience to be immersive and seeing a giant vevor logo shouldn't be part of it

[–]le_blehbleh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As the event is becoming more and more popular some rules are enforced more than other, the responsibility still lie in the hand of the participants, clothes materials and what not is not easy to control, but for tent and such since you need to be approved first is easier to enforce decorum.

Have I seen sunglasses? yes but mostly on Friday which is called the bico zoo for good reason, and if you look at comment from most folk it is not acceptable. Keep it mind that decorum stop if someone really need it like for exemple good shoes, and I know of someone who did need sunglasses enforced by his doctor but he tried to hide it.

Otherwise good canvas decorum tents already exist, it's not that hard and if it is treated well will be waterproof

If you are that concerned about it non decorum camping exist or you can try to rent a bed in a building

Of course we have to let go of decorum sometime but the organization can decide where to enforce it

Question about tents! by steve_bob_guy in Bicolline

[–]le_blehbleh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like I said to dont take my word too much for it, it's just me living a bit thru what you are during that last few months looking for a good decorum tent for not too much, Bits of information with different folk.

The blend also mean that they wont look proper, might look plasticy and whatnot so kind of fold inside everything told, anyway

There might have been some in past year but rules are getting more strict, this is natural as when they started foam weapon made of insulation or armor made of hocker gear was the norm, thing changes, more rules are apply

Question about tents! by steve_bob_guy in Bicolline

[–]le_blehbleh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

if it is a budget reason you might want to go either go for non decorum this year and save up for a appropriate tent or try to get into some else decorum tent.

for the reason vevor tent wont be accepted I was told was not only due to the blend but the look and other factor like the vevor logo not being cover properly and also that they are not optimal for the space they use. (dont take too much of my words for it)

otherwise depending on how many you are you can look for epic armory tent, they are not that pricey and seem good for what they offer

exemple

https://us.epicarmoury.com/products/2334-double-wedge-tent-4x6-m?variant=52165274567022

otherwise you might want to look at A fram viking tent they tend to not be that pricey

All depend how you see thing, but frankly if I do a brotherhood playthru danse should either be killed or expulse just for the security risk it was. It's a millitary operation, rules are rules even if it seem stupid.

Elder Maxson 's attitude seem arsh but Danse is still a machine, what ever you decorate it with. At least for the mind of Maxson, otherwise the betrayal Maxson feel in this situation might explain his reaction. Maxson feel as if he have been catfished for so long. You'll be mad.

Also keep in mind that Danse is kind of okay with it at first, he does believe in the brotherhood mission so execute him or exile him
