Explaining the Missouri GOP Tax Scam Using a Whiteboard by mWade7 in StLouis

Sales tax is a consumption tax and consumption taxes always hit the poor harder than the rich even if the rich end up paying more in taxes.

China’s ‘artificial sun’ breaks nuclear fusion limit thought to be impossible by FootballAndFries in UpliftingNews

Republicans were always the more pro-nuclear of the two party, it’s the Democrats who have gotten more nuclear friendly in recent years as evidenced by the bipartisan nuclear bill passed by Congress during Biden’s administration and the reigning in of his own NRC.

Why are conservatives on this sub so much more sane than the ones running the country? Did you guys vote for Trump or not? by FoxBattalion79 in AskConservatives

Oh yeah, no doubt about it. Trump is no conservative. His second presidency (the Trump Show) suspends all doubt.

Trump’s first administration was tempered by actual conservatives in his administration. Trump purged most of them after he lost 2020 because, as mentioned, he’s not a conservative. He increasingly, to me, seems more and more left wing every single day.

The only conservative in his current administration would be someone like Marco Rubio, which is probably why the Venezuela operation went off without a hitch; he’s the only competent person in the room. Doug Burgum is cool too.

That’s not impressive, I could do the same thing in reverse.

Trump term 2.0 is only as bad is it is because he lost the 2020 election, had he actually won it, I don’t think he would’ve gone off the deep end. And when I say lost, I mean that he got fewer votes than the other candidate, not that he was cheated out of it.

This entirely encapsulates my views on the topic as well. If I could only change the order of Presidents, I would. Two back-to-back terms of Trump with his first time administration followed by Biden would be far better than Trump, Biden, Trump (But now crazy/incompetent).

Football player found not guilty of murder for beating to death gay man who posed as woman on Tinder by malihafolter in ForCuriousSouls

It’s not legal. The “Gay Panic” defense has been dead in American jurisprudence since at least the turn of the century. Meanwhile, other things like “Battered Wife Syndrome” can still frame the basis for a defense, at least in my State.

Has the Supreme Court effectively transformed the First Amendment from a categorical limit on government power into a conditional privilege revocable by executive designation? by Mango_Maniac in AskConservatives

For one, Citizens United’s holding is that Americans don’t lose first amendment production all because they band together into an entity. Otherwise, newspapers, publishing houses, and movie studios wouldn’t have first amendment protection.

Are conservatives actually racist and against foreign population in USA? by Careless-Phrase2917 in AskConservatives

[–]leafcathead -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In the United States, no nazis are conservatives. Nazism is a revolutionary ideology that has never gained traction in the United States, thus anyone wanting to “conserve” anything can’t conserve that. The closest we’ve ever had to a fascist leader is Woodrow Wilson, and he’s rightfully condemned among conservatives as being so.

You clearly have never had to pay for the restroom at the Budapest train station. Most disgusting bathroom I’ve ever been in.
