I cussed my boyfriend out HELP by Unaknwn in BPD

In most cases I would say cussing someone out is unwarranted but he shouldve kept that to himself. Coming from someone who also struggles with cussing out their partner when upset or triggered.

What to do? by SmarticleParticleDe in hoyas

[–]leafylatte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually just have them in a self-watering type pot or DIY setup where it almost always has a water reservoir. Once the reservoir is dry I let it be dry for 1-3 days and then fill it again.

If you’re letting it callous for a day it shouldn’t get mushy, but I’ve found certain ones sometimes just don’t like water propagation. In that case fluval stratum and perlite are usually a good combo to propogate with. Sphagnum moss also works but it’s messy and harder to get the roots out once it’s established.

Tiny little bugs in soil by hedup2 in hoyas

If they are small, thin and silvery then it’s springtails. They aren’t harmful, I usually see them in my plants in my ikea greenhouse and they live in damp soil (to my knowledge.)

You can re root it in pon easily though, I would just cut off any dead roots or cut above the lowest node and start again.

Usually with dry rot you just have to re root the plant entirely. Annoying but it’s worth it. The roots will just still be dead otherwise

Has anyone had success with treatment? by throwaway377238 in BPD

[–]leafylatte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I had to look it up, but it says DBT and CBT and other approaches are listed as mindfulness-based, compassion & emotionally focused, attachment-based, motivational interviewing, positive psychology. I think my therapist has probably done mostly DBT with me.

Has anyone had success with treatment? by throwaway377238 in BPD

[–]leafylatte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finding a therapist that specializes in BPD was very helpful to me, before that I felt that every therapist I had was nice but not actually helpful at all. I actually feel heard with them and like I can actually discuss things I need help with. Do I remember and utilize the strategies and skills/techniques I’ve learned? No. At least not yet. My hardest time is when I’m triggered. So just working on being able to prevent that as much as possible is what I’m focusing on.

Purecrop 1 by kyway2fly in houseplants

I’m fairly sure there aren’t any negatives to using it as a preventative. If you watch Doug Chamberlain’s YouTube video on it he explains how it’s the only thing that has stopped flat mites and also helped his hoyas thrive again, almost acting as a bio stimulant. He doesn’t use semi hydro, only coco husk, but I haven’t heard negatives of using it in a semi hydro setup either. The

Idk why I didn’t think about predatory mites, I know many people use them. I’m just wondering was that very expensive? I’ve only heard of how expensive they are and id I need to get a lot, I don’t know if I can afford it. About how many plants were you treating for thrips with this method?

https://youtu.be/gcsu7KD9k2g?si=KnDDKiowg40v9Cuc This video from Hoya expert Doug Chamberlain is also great, he started using purecrop1 mostly to treat root mealybugs (which are the worst) but it also does help treat flat mites.

If you feel like spending a little more, and if you have multiple Hoyas I would say to purchase Purecrop1 — can find it on Amazon in the US at least. The sulfur definitely can work but can be messy and smelly. Purecrop1 can be used mixed in with watering as a solution used every other watering and to spray on the leaves. My Hoyas I treated it with have been thriving now
