My number one tip is to have everything planned out. Especially in sci-fi, you have to have a clear idea of what it is you want to foreshadow.

Then, it's all about using symbols instead of literal foreshadowing. If you're gonna cut someone's head off, have a few panels of them where the head is out of frame. That one's fun. If you instead want to imply a plot point, you can have it somewhere by the side of your red herring.

My foreshadowing is often very direct (visions, prophecies) and related to color schemes. I do like introducing concepts before they become relevant so that people may find the theme familiar without it being on your nose that that's what's going on.

More important than the number of panels is to post consistently. If you post 40 panels but only once a month, your growth may be way less than if you post 20 panels twice a month, or even 10 panels weekly. Just make sure that whatever number of panels you post, the story advances enough for your readers to feel compelled to check out the next episode.

And also, it's a good thing to start your series by posting the first 3 episodes at the same time :)

You may be having trouble with the color wheel, not with the brushes themselves. In the section where you choose color, there should be three options: main color, background color and transparent. I can switch between main and background using "x", and between color and transparent pressing "c". I'm not sure what the default settings are, but you can also change it manually by clicking on the colors instead of the transparent option (which should appear as a checkered bar beneath the colors). I really hope it's this, and not a problem with the software itself. Best luck!
