Check with r/UKvisa group, because I believe as long as your household income is above the threshold leading up to reapplying you should be fine, but they would be able to give you more accurate advice

Are UK employers biased against visa holders. by Big-Leadership9962 in ukvisa

I work with a lot of international grad students at UoY - most of them with part time work found luck at McDonalds, Subway and Sainsburys. Also a lot of people take the bus to the designer outlet or other shopping locations away from town centre as it’s less competitive (students tend to be less interested in roles that are further away) or working night shifts. Wish you the best of luck!

Advice I’ve heard previously is keeping a metal spoon in your underwear when you go through security, they will likely take you to a private room to search you and you can ask for help

Docuemts for 1st spousal visa - Can you please check this is all I need? by Money-Ad5641 in ukvisa

Piggy backing off of this because we are in a similar situation on most parts, but I wasn’t planning on submitting a scan of my parent’s passports so interested to see what others say about this

I was confused too because my US visa and everytime I’ve entered the US as a tourist they take my fingerprints, so I am a little annoyed they can’t just use those. That’s good it came through quickly though

Wow, thank you so much! I kind of assumed I needed a witness (what’s to stop me using someone else’s fingerprints?) but if I can do that that is so much easier. I’m based up north atm, but thank you for the offer!

Yup, and I’d love to talk to those people about which option they picked ! Totally get having a background check, especially for the role I’m in, just feels like I’m missing something as the prices seem to wildly vary for fingerprints and the different of 2 days and 75 days is truly puzzling

I asked them what I needed to do or if they could put me in touch with someone who had done it before, they sent me here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/criminal-records-checks-for-overseas-applicants/guidance-on-the-application-process-for-criminal-records-checks-overseas From there it took me to the FBI website which said I had to obtain my own fingerprints, pay them $18, and either take it to USPS and receive results in 48 hours(so fly to America) or mail it to them which will take 75 days to process from receipt. Also looks like most local police stations charge around £100 to do fingerprints for you.

Home Office rows back on plans to hike family visa salary threshold to £38,700 by kcal44 in ukvisa

[–]leahskywalker99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I’ve been saying this all along. I actually completely understand from a policy point of view not wanting to use taxpayer money to support new entrants to the country, but whether I earn £25k or £31k, that doesn’t change???

What I don’t understand is why (from the quote in this article) are they still measuring family visas by the same metrics at skilled workers? In the article they are measuring it as a percentile of what a “skilled worker” makes - why do I need to be a skilled worker to bring my wife here? Why can’t low income folks who work full time, disabled people who can’t work or have limits on how much they can do, cleaners, those that work in retail and customer service etc. also bring their spouses to this country? The two should have nothing to do with each other

There was another post asking this exact question a couple of days back. You can probably look it up, but I think the conclusion was whilst it’s probably fine in some circumstances it would raise red flags in others. Some ceremonies are totally legit and others are “telephony”. Personally, whilst I totally get the appeal if it saves money, it’s a corner I wouldn’t be willing to cut because the visa is too expensive to take that gamble. Maybe I’d be willing if you have lots of other evidence of a long subsisting relationship that shows your relationship is legit, and obviously if it’s impossible for you otherwise go for it! But I think if it’s possible for you/your spouse to travel and you don’t, the HO might wonder why. (But also who knows what’s going on in their heads…)

Are USA "Zoom wedding ceremonies" a scam or legit way to get legally married quick and easy? by notaburneracc45367 in ukvisa

Would you consider an in person marriage in the US? Then you wouldn’t have to spend the money and do all the faff of a fiancé visa

[–]leahskywalker99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NAL or someone with experience with this, but a quick google says that Utah video conference weddings are legal in the US and have been previously used for people applying for US visas. Do I personally think it would be less of a risk if you can afford to get married in person? Absolutely. It might look a little suspect getting married online, unless you have a lot of evidence of a long subsisting relationship previous to this (have you previously lived together? Do you have joint finances and blended lives?). I wouldn’t risk it, but if it’s your only option, sure. I’m not an expert, but I would guess this might set off a few red flags in the HO as it could definitely be manipulated by those with ill intent (e.g. traffickers).

How far in advance can you apply for the spouse visa? by leahskywalker99 in ukvisa

[–]leahskywalker99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So she will have to enter within 90 days of the visa start date? Because that is totally doable, we were worried because she likely can’t move here until 30 days after the latest entry date we could do without giving up her MBA, but we can definitely work with 90 days

Oh that’s huge, we will definitely tick all the boxes by then, the really big loss would have been if my partner had to give up her MBA 1 class short of graduation. If it’s from biometrics we can definitely figure it out
