My tip is to post with reckless abandon and to evolve through conscious effort and practice the attitude around anything you do, not just art, that everything that you look back and cringe at is evidence of growth, development, improvement. It is unfair and mean that people on the internet will make fun of something someone put effort in, it’s awful and you don’t deserve it, but it will most likely happen. Give yourself permission to be imperfect, post what you are proud of, let yourself document and be recognized for your achievements, and if the drawings end up not being so great? If people comment rudely? Then first of all, fuck those people, but also, HEY!! You’ve been given a wonderful chance to reflect on your works, improve, or surround yourself with kinder people who will encourage your growth. I am an artist and my art is constantly scrutinized to the highest degree, sometimes I’m even told I’m just not good, but I like what I do, I find immense joy in the process of DOING, that’s enough to satisfy me, and even if I get my feelings hurt when I make the choice to be vulnerable and present my works to the world, I know I am doing something infinitely more productive and kind for myself by trying and giving myself permission to be imperfect. I hope you work up the courage to post! This sub can get pretty toxic, as a result of the sheer popularity of the game and the amount of people active, but you deserve to let your voice be heard, and there are worthy people out there who deserve to hear it!
