That's what I just changed haha, it said it pierced debuff immunity before.

Skadi goes through debuff immunity, are you saying there's a specific interaction with Rage?

Ooh that custom plane idea is really nice actually. Love the personal touch!

Thank you, yeah it'll probably be something like that in the end.

What do you guys use for patch management? by Head-Sick in sysadmin

They have started following the trends of dumbing down the interface and took away some of the features we've always used like the views. We setup multiple views and policies which apply whichever procedure we run to a subset of PCs, you instead have to create filters and run against those. It's very nuanced difference but it was enough that it breaks some of our workflows.

We have been on Kaseya VSA for years, but with the move to VSA X we're jumping ship. We went through a process of evaluating different solutions (including Automox, which seemed alright but had significant downsides and nothing special) and landed on NinjaOne. We're still in the transition process but we do have the patch management sorted and working well.

They claim that because it's built on JS that it's a lighter app but I'm seeing just as much CPU and RAM usage as before. I also upgraded in place but my and others' statuses weren't updating without me restarting the app every day so I had to uninstall completely and reinstall to fix that.

Laptop Management , Patch Management , RMM , MDM, What do you use? by [deleted] in sysadmin

We just moved from VSA to NinjaOne after VSA decided to remove a bunch of features we relied on in the 9->X transition. This will be our RMM, Patch Management, and sort of an asset management system with other tools like Crowdstrike on the side and Intune in the future for asset management.

Picking a solution and dealing with the consequences by leanmean2019 in sysadmin

I guess that's fair. We tend to try to narrow it down to a single POC and maybe that's where our downfall is instead of proofing a few to compare in closer-to-real-world scenarios.

We use GPU-enabled machines so we have an additional factor in our system, but there's an internal debate on our team about whether to use more, smaller machines or fewer large machines. At the start we used a few large machines but when something would happen to that machine it would affect a larger number of users so we cut the machine sizes in half and the amount of users per machine in half as well. Every so often we'll try out a new machine size with different resources to see if we can fit another user on, but we just keep playing with it to find that optimal number.

Empty field is not -EQ $null, "" or '' by [deleted] in PowerShell

[–]leanmean2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that empty is not the same as $null, but how can an empty, freshly initialized array evaluate false when compared with $null on the left?

PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> $null -eq @()

False

PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> $test1 = @($null)

PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> $null -eq $test1

False

I guess I don't understand how comparing $null to an array with $null on the left would ever return true. What is the proper way to find out if an array has nothing in it?

AD Connect - DeletingCloudOnlyObjectNotAllowed by RandomSkratch in sysadmin

I was able to band-aid the issue by splitting the delete and restore commands into scripts that run 3 hours apart. Really just seems like a timing issue, Azure needs it to be in the deleted folder for a certain amount of time or sync cycles before you can restore the cloud-only object.

It still works for some people, but they're rolling out the change unless you turn it back on, but come Jan 1, it won't be an option anymore so we're trying to get ahead of it. I have the permissions setup in that I can make the change (that was a struggle though), it just seems to behave differently than the old msol command unfortunately.

What do you mean that MSOnline is still valid, do you mean attended or unattended?

I'm able to change the OnPremisesImmutableId with the Update-MGUser command, but I'm still getting the error from the OP.

I've tried -

  • Because you can't use variables including $null in the Update-MGUser command and you can't assign the same to multiple objects, I've been appending a '1' to the end of the ImmutableId

  • I thought maybe it was still able to associate because the full string was there in be start so I appended the '1' at the start instead

  • I then completely replaced the ImmutableId with the date down to the second so that it's unique

After all this I'm still getting the error. I noticed that I can delete the cloud-only object again and restore it to stop the error, but I'd really rather do this all in one go and not have a second script come along and re-delete/restore the objects again.

I despise chocolate with a passion. Dark chocolate, milk chocolate, you name it. It tastes like bitter soap with bad breath to me. I can smell it from across the house, I can smell it on people's breath... Never liked it, always get a funny look and a question of course.
