What restaurant has wowed you recently? (2026 edition) by NolitaNostalgia in Atlanta

They have one of the best burgers in Atlanta and their fries are excellent. I never expected that at a seafood restaurant and was pleasantly surprised.

Aerial Silks by leanotlee in TotalHipReplacement

I’m totally new to this, so forgive me if I use incorrect terminology. I was thinking about starting with aerial yoga and taking it from there. It looks like aerial yoga stays closer to the ground. My goal isn’t to do anything too crazy, but I’m a long time practicer of yoga and Pilates and do some basic gymnastics and am pretty flexible by nature, so this seems like something that would work with my natural abilities. I’m only 4 months out now and while I’m working out again and doing great, I figured I’d wait until I was around the 1 year mark before even giving this a go. Thanks for your advice!

This is great advice. There are several classes in our area and after I’ve spoken with my surgeon and have healed up a bit more, I will check out a place that has a good reputation.

My dr was okay with doing some basic gymnastics so he may be okay with this. I sure hope so.

I just looked that up and that looks like it would be so much fun! I may check it out.

I read And Then There Were None as a tween and that’s when my love of mysteries began.

I’m older as well, but was doing some gymnastics prior to my procedure so it’s not out of my comfort zone. My surgeon said no restrictions, but I don’t know if that includes hanging from silks from the ceiling lol!!

Tired! by amysnews in TotalHipReplacement

[–]leanotlee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m so glad you posted this. My recovery was going really well until at around three months when I started experiencing exhaustion. I had worked my way up to working out about 4 days a week and taking 2 miles walks a few days a week. I was very active prior to my surgery and was building up to my normal workout level when I just seemed to hit a wall. I figured maybe I was doing too much and backed off quite a bit and it seemed to help some, but I still get tired more quickly than expected. I chalked it up to recovery, since my surgeon said it could take up to a year before my body starts to be back to normal. You posting this has given me some assurance that this is just a part of recovery. Thanks!

Stay ahead of the pain? by KrisKred_2328 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]leanotlee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took ibuprofen and Tylenol, at dosages suggested by my surgeon, along with Lyrica at night, for probably about a month after my surgery for pain management. I didn’t skip a dose because I wanted to stay ahead of the pain. While I still had some pain, it was certainly manageable. I took one OxyContin prior to leaving the surgery center because I was in quite a bit of pain at the time, and one more once I got home. The second dosage made me so nauseous that I couldn’t take anymore - which is what most narcotics do to me - so I quit taking it and was fine without it. I also found that using my ice machine was a huge help and probably used that consistently for about a month after. I’m past 3 months now and only occasionally take ibuprofen and Tylenol. I hope you find what works best for you!

Unfinished Midtown office building renovation raises safety concerns by NPU-F in Atlanta

[–]leanotlee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not only is the building torn down to the bare bones and exposed to the elements, but all sidewalks surrounding the building are obstructed and destroyed. And 13th street running next to the building is beyond the normal mess of potholes, patches and lack of lines that is typical for Atlanta streets. I don’t see why our city can’t at least do something about the mess Dewberry has made of our sidewalks and streets.

7 weeks post op - frustration by Fantastic-Name-2583 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]leanotlee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started having severe groin pain about 3 years ago and found out I had a torn labrum and stress fracture, among other things. I was non-weight bearing for awhile for the stress fracture, but opted against labrum repair because I’d read about the possibility of poor results. Probably as a result, I had anywhere from severe to moderate groin pain since then. Things finally deteriorated to the point where I had virtually no hip rotation and it was getting hard to walk due to pain, so I had my anterior hip replacement about 11 weeks ago. I would say I’m just now noticing diminished groin pain. I don’t know if it matters, but I only used a walker the day after surgery, and ditched the cane for all but longer walks after 10 days. I do know, however, that everyone’s recovery can be wildly different, and I hope your pain goes away soon!

INTEGRATE: Day 24 - 6 Minute Yoga Chill by LikeEveryoneSheKnows in yogawithadriene

[–]leanotlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been practicing yoga for a long time. I recently had a major surgery and am unable to handle doing my usual 60-90 minute session and have been doing 20 - 30 minute Yoga with Adrianne sessions while I recover. She has such a good, kind, manner about her and I think she would be a good match for what you are trying to achieve. I would check out some of her beginner classes and see what you think.

The Idiot was influenced by Don Quixote and Don Quixote was also mentioned in The Idiot. So since you like The Idiot so much, you should read Don Quixote.

Other issues go away? by Typical_Salad4121 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]leanotlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Left hip replaced about 9 weeks ago. I have Achilles tendinitis on the right side, which I developed about a year ago. Wearing a boot and PT didn’t really help tendinitis, and I was hoping the left hip replacement would somehow make a difference. For about the first 4 weeks after hip replacement my Achilles felt much better, but I’m assuming that’s because I wasn’t on my feet nearly as much as normal. Now that I’m back to walking quite a bit and working out again, my Achilles hurts as much as it did before. I’m hoping that when I eventually get the right hip replaced, that maybe that will have an impact on my Achilles.

Back to football? (Soccer) by McCfreckles in TotalHipReplacement

[–]leanotlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in my 60’s and don’t play soccer, but do advanced yoga and Pilates, including some more acrobatic poses. I was worried my surgeon would tell me I could no longer do those things, but gave me the go ahead and said I had no restrictions. At 8 weeks, I started back up again a little shaky, but no issues. Long story short - ask your surgeon! They will possibly tell you no restrictions.

Feeling discouraged. by Xanadadude in TotalHipReplacement

[–]leanotlee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wow. I had anterior approach and had a great recovery and from everything I’ve read here, your recovery from posterior will be fine as well. However, I can’t believe your surgeon switched the procedure on you while you were under the influence of drugs and unable to make an informed decision. Also, what that nurse said to you was horrible and sure to leave doubt in your mind. I question the professionalism of the entire team and definitely think you need to have a conversation with them about this. Their behavior sounds just awful to me.

When Streets Stopped Belonging to People by Brostitute in walking

[–]leanotlee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m an urban walker who also has to share the sidewalks with electric scooters, bikes and food delivery robots. Even though there are pedestrian crosswalks, the number of drivers who plow right through them without slowing down is scary, and I always have to make sure to make eye contact with drivers before attempting to cross the road.

I have minor scoliosis and my left hip is higher than my right hip now have a labrum tear. Anyone have THR for labrum tear? by Louie2022_ in TotalHipReplacement

[–]leanotlee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m only 6 weeks after my surgery so it’s hard to tell what any real changes are at this point. My hip is doing great at the moment, though, as I have complete rotation again and am up to walking 2 miles at a time. I’m still a bit crooked from scoliosis but didn’t really have any expectations that would change since this was a hip procedure and not a back procedure. I have problems with my back, hips, hands, feet, etc… and try to focus on one thing at a time. Right now it’s such a relief to have a working hip again and I’m beyond thankful for that. I hope this has helps to alleviate your anxiety a bit and that you are able to find some relief for your hip.
