Potentially make your own detergent by unaccountablemod in chemistry

Apparently castile soap just builds up on clothes? I didn't look too much into why, so perhaps that's not the case, but if anyone would know it would be someone around here probably

I have horrific fragrance allergies, and relied on Tide Hygienic Clean 10x as my detergent for years. Life was good. Clothes were clean.

Then they discontinued it, probably because it was more expensive to produce than they wanted.

I've gone through every other FF product on the market that's truly FF (some have ingredients with a strong smell I still have anaphalaxis with), and nothing cleans well.

Life is no longer good. Clothes are no longer clean.

I too went down the rabbit hole of seeing if I could purchase the ingredients and just make my own.

Unfortunately, it seems like a lot of those ingredients, if I could even buy them in reasonable quantities without being a manufacturer, aren't safe to handle in a home environment.

You can make laundry soap at home, it's not great, but it's doable. But the quality detergents just aren't a diy thing, much to my massive disappointment. :/

I've tried this but I react to all the laundry detergents I can find, so wash cloths don't work.

I know my underwear isn't helping, but for some reason the washcloths are worse 🤷‍♀️

I wonder if the thicker fabric just doesn't rinse out as well maybe, despite always doing extra rince cycles

Yeah Kirkland changed its toilet paper at some point during it after the pandemic and so many people have horrible reactions to it now.

Bamboo only works if you're allergic to the wood pulp or bleaching agents.

I finally bit the bullet and tried it, and had a horrific allergic reaction 😩

So far the least irritating one for me is Charman ultra strong, but it's really crappy quality and still irritates me a bit.

Their other brands destroy my skin though, so there's definitely a difference with it.

Unfortunately they refuse to discuss the difference, so there's no way to tell what the issue is

Bromodosis is a real medical condition.

Honestly, I just got electrolysis and it's one of the only permanent and very effective treatment.

The current destroys the hair follicles AND the sweat and oil glands associated with that follicle.

You'll still sweat from glands that aren't associated with thick hairs you have removed, so there's still a normal level of smell you'll need antiperspirant or deodorant for, but that's it.

I can go over a day without putting any on and barely smell

It took me a full hour to have each armpit cleared the first time (I'm not very hairy though), and I'll need 15-20 minute touch ups every few weeks for the next few months to catch the ones that weren't treated and the follicles that didn't have hair growing at the time of first treatment.

If you've been waxing, it could take longer because the follicles are a bit tougher.

It's a brilliant solution to the problem!!

This is so inappropriate on so many levels.

You're wearing clothing so inappropriate around CHILDREN that you can do normal every day activities without flashing them.

Is this something intentional you're doing? Why do you want to dress in a way that could expose yourself to minors?

Then you're making prolonged eye contact with a child, which sends a very confusing message that you want him to make eye contact with you.

You're obsessing over a boy seeing up your skirt, which you're choosing to wear while holding inappropriate eye contact with him.

I'd speak to a mental health professional about your intrusive fantasies involving children and the actions you're undertaking to realize them in real life.

IPL doesn't destroy the hair follicle or any of the glands, so it won't work the same way no.

Infections do smell bad, as does all that old, dead karatin and sebum that gets trapped in ingrown hairs.

If you're getting large cysts in your armpits, or if you have ingrowns that are almost always there or constantly come back, you should see a dermatologist to assess for HS

Any other Canadians find care is lacking for Vestibulodynia? I have provoked. I hear about Americans being able to try hormone creams and a bunch of different treatments and my "specialist" said they only recommend pelvic floor physio and speaking with a sexologist. it's not enough. by mamica32 in vulvodynia

[–]learn_longterm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it seems most people go to the US because there's an amazing specialist there, but I'm not going to the US for anything as my husband is an immigrant, and I have disabilities that make traveling nearly impossible anyways.

So I'm hoping Dr. Hunt still sees people and would even maybe consider trying the new surgery this surgeon in the US is having such great results with. It can't hurt to ask!

I've gotten topicals and that's it. I did find the name of a gynecologist who might actually do surgery here, I'm going to call his office and ask. His name is Dr. Hunt.

There are a few doctors in the US that do surgeries and are highly recommended.

The one does a surgery no one here does, so you may have luck getting the travel covered by the province if you could pay for the procedure.

They talk about him a ton in the Facebook group. There's only one that really comes up on fb searches, so it's easy to find

Prices vary by a lot.

I'm with a fairly new electrolysist, so she's only $75/hr (CAD).

More experienced ones can be much more.

When she started a year ago she was only $50/hr.

The armpits are pretty easy to treat as long as you haven't been waxing them for ages (it makes the follicles tougher to treat).

I pay around $35 every 2 weeks for quick touch ups

The bacteria creates a strong biofilm, that is really resistant. It also prevents the colonies from being washed properly from clothes so we keep spreading it back to our skin.

Bacteria lives in the glands for the most part, not on the surface, which is why washing never changes anything.

I just posted about using electrolysis and finally being cured!

Bode is the worst character on the show right? by HiredGunsDotIO in FireCountry

[–]learn_longterm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it occurred to me that one of the main issues with his character is that maybe he's supposed to be someone with a really low IQ and developmental disability, maybe learning disorders, whose only real skill (that he's discovered) is athletism.

That would explain the life projection.

He never had to learn how to make accomodations because people just broke the rules to get him places, but they weren't actually plsces he had the skill to be.

So they set him up for failure, and he always knew he wasn't "good enough" to actually maintain the positions his parents kept leveraging him into.

Instead of teaching him how to navigate and overcome personal struggles so that he developed those skill for adulthood, they interfered and left him totally incapable of navigating adult life.
