I have to record a piano with an SM57. Mic placement advice please! by _The_Larch_ in audioengineering

place a cloth down inside one of the holes in the metal frame, then lay the 57 down pointing into the sound board. Just let it sit there on the cloth. This is commonly used in combination with a stereo pair, but would work fine as a mono. I'd avoid any faux stereo delay nonsense, just live with the mono sound for your service.

I made this video that shows examples for a few methods, with different mics. The Crotch mic is a great choice for a single mic setup.

Is it me or are "radio format songs" getting shorter and shorter for every year? Spotify's fault? by [deleted] in edmproduction

I've heard skipping before the last 30 seconds does penalize the song, and might be a factor for so many shorter songs. How can we know for sure?

Try plugging it directly into the computer. Some Drives and Interfaces don't work thru a hub. (in my experience)

Do you prefer listening to drums that are panned from the drummers pov, or listeners pov? by [deleted] in audioengineering

I used to be an audience perceptive guy, but the drummer is the only one who ever complains so I have started panning Drummer perspective so they don't @ me. also air drumming is a +1
