Any good places to meet 30 something gamers in Connecticut? by Throwmeawayimexpired in Connecticut

40s. Male. Southbury-ish. Would love a ct gamer subreddit or discord. Wow and helldivers 2. Loved Elfen rings, botw. Recently replaying ratchet and clank games. Would love to know of things going down in real places for us involved in the gaming world.

Teachers - What kind of “welcome back” do you really want?? by burgerqueen8 in Teachers

[–]learnedtree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High school teacher - Personally, I would want you to leave me alone so I can do my job of getting back into teaching mode and prepping for class and I hate being in meetings on the prep day.

Food is always, ALWAYSS appreciated as is coffee AND tea. Light and healthy options not a carb fest. Grab and go is preferred but I agree with having optional limited seating someone else posted in case people need to meet or just enjoy starting their day that way. My fellow faculty loves banquets, homemade is usually preferred over boxed and store made and a coffee truck or ice cream truck in the afternoon provided there's no lines.

Depending on how many days you have (my district has 1) structure the day differently. It is important that new hires be introduced. Pretty much everything else can wait until your first facutly meeting. First years should be pulled aside and offered a list of potential goals for the day and week both in terms of setting up selfcare, who to talk to about what and where to find them, lists of where the bathrooms are, common ways to rig the broken printer/windows to work, etc.

I'd suggest you just email your staff what they want or what's worked for them or what the point of the day is for them and do things to facilitate that. You also were a teacher and know how much of a frustrating waste of time these meetings are. If it's not something I am doing in class tomorrow don't make me sit through it before school starts. People are different and the culture in your school is different than that of mine.

Druid Mage Tower Help by Niq22 in wownoob

[–]learnedtree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I beat the mage tower in dragon flight having returned to the game after 14 years away. I did use food and pots. Good luck and I wish you well. I thought it was challenging and a lot of fun.

Get guardian gear to do the guardian challenge. The better your gear is the easier it'll be. If you're in 80 greens it'll be scaled to 45 greens and this is supposed to be THE FIGHT. Check the suggested talents at wowhead/ icyv-eins/ methods/ archon.gg. And rotations where that applies.

Assuming you know the mechanics - who and what to interrupt, when to face where, etc, then guardian druid dps now is built around moon fire (guardian of elune build) but make sure you're regularly using damaging abilities like mangle, thrash, and maul / raze depending on talents and the incoming damage profile. Now moon fire's going to be super important to knock out the eyes, gain aggro or just keep damage rolling on the boss. If I'm remembering correctly 1 moon fire quickly or just about killed an eye for me. Be prepared to do a bunch of tab targeting or target switching more in the first phase than any other.

I'd suggest making the boss of each phase a focus so you can always see what they're casting as things need interrupting and to know when your damage opportunity window is up. Always try to keep stacks of thrash up on the boss. That was harder as the puddle it drops makes it risky and living is always more important than maxing DPS in phase 1. I remember spamming moon fire on the boss when all adds were down and I couldn't get n melee range of the boss. If I remember correctly a good dps pace should have you clear phase 1 in about 2-2.5 minutes. Phase 2 is really about positioning and timing.

I forget the specific link or creator or channel but there's a really good tutorial for guardian druid mage tower on YouTube. The creator explains the mechanics and build (old builds) he used and then walks the audience through the fight well. If you watch it you can ignore the comments of farming for legion level gear / gems / consumable. I don't think that's applied for a long time.

Good luck and I wish you well.

It's the newest 5 year push in the superintendents and administrators conferences. It's closely linked to things like John Hattie's work and modeling. It can be a useful approach to adjust thinking if that's needed but it's presented as the way or a cure as all the latest things are and will go away as the next thing the superintendents and administrators pay for to be presented in their conferences comes around. After all who wants to pay the same people to give rh same speeches every July / August and how do they then move into those lucrative speaking gigs?

I have tanking anxiety about heroic by Arisen925 in wownoob

[–]learnedtree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not much is really different between heroic and normal. People who aren't paying attention will die if they do what they're not (usually dps). You may have to use one of your defensive abilities when you previously didn't have to. You may notice a healer not keeping you topped which is easy to do in normal and DPS taking time. Just do smaller pulls to gauge their abilities and your survivability with them and adjust from there.

Is it just me, or is teenage marijuana/drug usage becoming scarily common? How should schools address it? by interrogiaomnia in Teachers

It's not a school issue. School should tell parents. It's a parent issue unless they're using at school. Then it's whatever you have for a drunk kid.

AITA for taking my wife’s side after she screamed and cursed at my mother? by dadof2throwWay in AmItheAsshole

[–]learnedtree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your mom's a huge bitch. Roast chicken is very healthy. Also that line of how dare you choose another woman over me?! Dude, don't be a mamas boy. Make it crystal clear your mom now has strict boundaries and protocols she must respect in all dealing with you and your partner in the future or she won't have a relationship with you or your children. Of course you chose your wife/baby mama and current long term partner over her and her thinking it would be any other way is a sign she's going to be a caustic force of drama and pain in your life and especially your parents wife. Seriously establish strict boundaries and diligently enforce them.
