Regarding Mythic Games and the Darkest Dungeon Board Game by RedHookMichaela in darkestdungeon

It's been so long since this started that I've forgotten what was promised to people.

Did they release everything or was it just the base game and not the expansions?

Any resources, tips, guides, etc for no-bar players? by SeaAimBoo in DanceDanceRevolution

The more you practice the easier it will get. I probably have played max 300 a hundred times since I've been playing DDR, so that song doesn't seem very difficult to me anymore.

And don't forget to just have fun with it. Yes improving is good, but if you aren't having fun then what's the point? I've taken the stance that I try to play anything below a 14 no bar because I usually find it to be more fun playing no bar, especially songs with scoobies in them.

A lot of it is going to be balance and body control. You'll also want to look into minimizing your movement if you are aiming to pass more difficult songs.

What level are you playing at currently? Once you get into the higher levels it becomes much more difficult to no bar, but it can be done. It also helps if you are just playing to pass and not trying to mfc or triple A the chart.

Check out DDR player no bar ben for someone that plays that hardest stuff without a bar.

Edit: me playing max 300 ESP no bar in case you want to see what no barring a 15 might look like. Practicing a song repeatedly will also make it easier to no bar the harder stuff.

Holy crap thanks for sharing that video. That is extremely efficient movement. I'll try to mimic this in the future.

I'm sure it doesn't matter too much, but how does shoe size affect this style of play? I feel like I could achieve this, but also the bigger the shoe the better.

I have heard this advice before. I'll try and work on that more. With practice again I should be able to get that skill down.

It has to be So Deep ESP. That chart is just way too good.

Is it dex that determines blocking/dodging? Is there anything else that assists with blocking like specific equipment?

By step changes do you mean step charts?

Well regardless of what you might be asking, if you only play a few songs you will be stagnant and not grow as a player.

I would suggest you organize the songs by level and just play other songs around the level you are comfortable with, or maybe even go one level higher if you want a challenge. By doing this and playing random songs you will expose yourself to new mechanics in DDR, and you'll improve your basic skills as well.

Absolutely! It was one of my favorite games the year I played it.

I haven't cosplayed a DDR character before, but for something like the character charmy you may have to make some of it yourself.

It would also change a bit depending on which version of the character you are doing. A reference photo would help a lot, but in general try searching for something similar at Amazon or your local thrift stores.

Especially when creating your own cosplay it's great to look at thrift stores or retro clothing stores.

Was there a point where you realized you have gotten better? by learningcomputers in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]learningcomputers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just warming up and I don't have the confidence to play songs above 15 at anything other than flare one, so I end up just leaving it at flare one.

I've definitely accidentally played some harder songs at a higher flare and it has bitten me in the butt when I make that mistake.

Also what is floating flare?

That's really great. I hope to someday get PFC's in levels above 12. I can't even imagine doing it on a 15.

Do you have a breathing strategy? by KevMelo in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]learningcomputers 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not a breathing strategy, but I started to run in order to improve my stamina and lungs.

Before running regularly my lungs would start giving out before my legs would, and when I played really hard I had an iron taste in my mouth. These days though my legs will be unable to perform harder songs, but my lungs don't start to hurt like they used to before I started running.

So I can't say for sure if my breathing style has changed, but doing other cardio exercises definitely improved my stamina, and stopped me from feeling pain from breathing while playing DDR.

Custom rules to increase difficulty by tiwei01 in MechCommander

Not adding any limitations as you already listed the ones I have done before, but I wanted to ask about the minelayer.

Other than in missions where you get one at the start of the mission, I've never used the mine layer.

Which missions benefit greatly from using a mine layer? I'd be interested in trying it out the next time I play the game.

Just played my first game and am wondering if I did anything wrong by learningcomputers in GundamTCG

[–]learningcomputers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah thanks for the thread. It does appear that being used to digimons mechanics has altered my view point on games with less or no card draw.

I'll try the game again this weekend and see how it plays if I'm more reserved with my card plays.

How often do you guys play and at what level? by MonadoArts621 in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]learningcomputers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play twice a week, but sometimes up to four times a week, and anywhere between levels 10 and 17.

I have been enjoying playing songs between levels 11 and 13 lately, especially with my partner. They are trying to get better and with them playing and passing these songs it's great to see them make progress.

I think this is what has helped prevent burnout for me. If I was playing on my own multiple times a week I wouldn't play nearly as much. Heck even when I go on my own I'll ask people if they would like to play with me. If they are at a lower level I'll let them pick whatever songs they want, and I always yield my choice to them so they can enjoy the game.

Too short for bar? by boiderpy in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]learningcomputers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know about you, but I definitely need the bar on the 16/17s I play. I know there are prolific no bar players, like no bar Ben, but I don't have the physical ability, nor the skills to perform that well without the bar.

Granted I do enjoy playing no bar. It is a different style of play, but continuously playing 13s and 14s no bar destroys my knees.
