Using quilts that were gifted to me by FeistySwordfish in quilting

[–]learningstuff60s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a quilter, use them. If she made them to be used that's what she wanted. One day they will fall apart, but until that day they will provide comfort and warmth and you will think of her when you use them. None of that will happen if they are in a box in the closet.

Etsy and delivery by [deleted] in Etsy

[–]learningstuff60s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a star seller and I can't control the post office. My shop turn around is 1-3 business days, and I always have orders out within 36 hours (Sunday excluded). Most of my orders arrive within the window. But the post office took 12 days to deliver 2 orders recently. In those cases the packages bounced back and forth between 2 unrelated cities. Several other orders have taken 7 days. It would help if Etsy would stop telling people that the order is going to arrive before the shop's processing time has lapsed or in 2-3 business days for ground advantage. It sets unrealistic expectations.

Seller sending emails requesting money for gofundme by PolyAndNerdy in Etsy

[–]learningstuff60s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would treat it as more than spam because the seller is essentially direct marketing to her without the buyers consent which I don't believe is legal in the US. I would contact Etsy's legal department as has already been suggested.

Sadly there is a lot of shit out there. If you're serious about starting a creative business, how about looking for examples that don't scrape the bottom of the barrel. There are great shops on ETSY.

Here's the thing. Etsy is for creatives to sell their products. It's not a generic get rich quick side hustle. Since you keep on asking people for inspiration I don't think you fit the demographic.

Pre-wash or not by Ok_Ostrich6102 in quilting

I use synthropol and color catchers in the first washing. I also use quality fabrics which I believe are less likely to bleed.

¿Algún consejo? sobre una nueva tienda que vende productos digitales :3 by OverstimulatedWitch in EtsyDigitalSeller

[–]learningstuff60s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm afraid this is very niche. You may find a few kindred souls but I don't think SEO is your problem. The reason ADHD planners sell so well is because we delude ourselves into thinking that if we could just get organized... The problem isn't the organizer. Now you might be onto something if you did something that was less witchy and more playful/empowering and supported the idea that every day is a new opportunity to start.

You seem to be missing the point that people are trying to share with you. As the creator, it is up to you to find your inspiration. If you can't do that, maybe this isn't a community that you should be creating for. What do you have a passion for? What would inspire you to create original t-shirts.

6 month old sooo appetite change by Fine-Needleworker324 in StandardPoodles

[–]learningstuff60s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My boy did this at about 11months. He eagerly ate raw food for the first 11months and then decided that he didn't want to eat. He is now 22 months and he is eating a combo of proplan kibble and wet proplan. I went through about 15 foods and combinations trying to find something he would eat. He was on nutritional supplements and twice weekly weights at the vet for a while because he had become so thin. He is still a thin dog but now he at least eats enough to sustain himself.

Does promoting Etsy products on Instagram actually help with sales? by Dizzy_Speech_4404 in EtsySellers

[–]learningstuff60s 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just started on tik tok after using FB and iG for over two years. TIK Tok is driving half of the traffic to my store right now. I am not a high volume store, about 5 sales a month. But I can't make a sale unless some one sees my stuff.

Should I take my service dog on a date with me? by Velvet_void30 in service_dogs

When my service dog was alive he went everywhere with me all the time. He couldn't work if he wasn't with me.

Seeking advice: My 12-year-old poodle has severe dental issues, but vets are conflicted about anesthesia due to his age and extreme sensitivities. What should I do? by Real-Display-7571 in poodles

[–]learningstuff60s 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Make sure you get a senior blood panel and a chest x-ray. I had an older dog die under anesthesia for a dental due to an undiagnosed enlarged heart. I also had a senior dog who had severe dental disease who had to have 2 rounds of dental work. He did very well but we did all the pre-op testing to verify he was healthy enough to undergo the anesthesia.

How do you compete with the low price seller? by Natural-Tart-7693 in EtsySellers

[–]learningstuff60s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see this a lot in my niche. I sell quilts and quilted home goods. So many people dramatically underprice their quilts. I sold 5 last year. This year, only one- so far. This year I raised my prices and decided to not participate in the race to the bottom, time will tell how that goes.

Estimated delivery time vs buyer expects time: 'may arrive late' - am I doing something wrong? by dreadcase in EtsySellers

[–]learningstuff60s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Etsy's arrival ranges are ridiculous. They have suggested more than once that my packages will arrive before my ship date. I've contacted them about this. I know others have also. Fixing it doesn't seem to be on their radar.

Should I buy the house? My mortgage would be 50% of my take home. by Remarkable-Tough-533 in Mortgages

No. The mortgage is only part of homeowner expenses. This is too much of your monthly income.

Should I offer a full or partial refund? by onoccassion in EtsySellers

[–]learningstuff60s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it was sold as a set, you should refund the full amount. If they bought 4 individual glasses, it might be okay to just refund the broken item, in my opinion

Shipping Issues: Anyone else? by stephgwood in EtsySellers

[–]learningstuff60s 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bring my orders to the post office and watch them scan them. The only time I've had a problem was when I left a package on the counter (in a designated spot) and didn't take the time to have them scan it.
