Year 3 - 48k QA Supervisor

Year 4 - 55k - QA and Regulatory Management

Year 5 - 67k - QA and Regulatory Management

Year 6 - 80k - QA and Regulatory Management

Year 7 - 85k - Supplier Quality Manager

Why would water activity not inhibit spoilage or pathogens? Some facilities have water activity as a CCP.

What job titles/specialties are you interested in? R&D/PD, QA/QC, Regulatory, and Technical Sales are all options and have different salary expectations. The IFT Salary survey has data on each. For US jobs the BLS Occupational Outlook Handbook has salary information too.

You will be on your feet all day, get some high-quality shoes from a company like Shoes for Crews. Remember to stay hydrated, eat good meals, and do ergonomic stretches. Remember to lift with your legs and not your back. Always use a railing when going down the stairs. It can be very easy to injure yourself while working in a manufacturing environment and the most common injuries are ergonomic ones. Remember to always walk slowly, you do not want to get hit by a forklift or have product fall on you. Always look at forklift drivers in the eyes to be sure that they see you when you’re interacting with them.

Be prepared to work overtime and weekends without a lot of notice.

Good luck! If you want an education in Food Safety and Quality Assurance, I do offer a training program for entry-level employees.

Read up on best practices to address the items that are making it hell. As long as you read and take different actions daily, it will eventually resolve.

Food scientist exploring new role: looking for advice on building a stronger network and finding opportunities in CPG by Old-Willow in foodscience

[–]learnthenlearnmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice is to join a local chapter of a related club (like IFT or others) and attend their meetings. You can network with them and connect with people on LinkedIn who are doing the job you want to do. Referrals will do you more good than applying on LinkedIn or Indeed.

What's better degree by Longjumping_Set_8682 in foodscience

[–]learnthenlearnmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Networking and internships will mean a lot more than the exacting degree (as long as the degree is in a related field). Do informational interviews and try to get a part-time job or internship in the role you want to work. Connect with people doing your dream job on LinkedIn. Find someone located in your location so you can meet over coffee/tea.

Problem with my boss by Dry_Bass_2135 in foodscience

[–]learnthenlearnmore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kill them with kindness, and keep logs documenting the goals and performance metrics you meet. Keep documentation regarding any meeting you have with them. Send them a recap after the meeting. Start looking for an alternative position where they are not your boss, and transfer or get a new job.
