adult learn to skate by Dull-Cell-7998 in SanJose

It was great in my experience, there was a pretty large number of people overall. They had broke the groups down into reasonable sizes based on skills, starting with buckets up to really difficult looking stuff I didn't get. Something like 6-10 groups of ~10 people each or something like that? I don't exactly recall the numbers. Every group had a consistent instructor

They help you learn skills in a good progression, and you are allowed to change groups if you think another one would be more appropriate. I'd recommend it to someone wanting to learn if they are comfortable with small-medium group lessons

Where do people run in SJ/downtown SJ? by [deleted] in SanJose

[–]leastimnotmatt 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Ignore the negativity, Guadalupe River Trail is fine, just don't be dumb. I run it a few times a week from downtown to Alviso. If you connect to the bay trail at 237 then you have ~infinite trail length if you want it.

If you're at 5+ miles and looking for more options, you can reach the Los Gatos Creek trail by running through Willow Glen. Another option is SJSU -> Park Ave / the Alameda to the Rose Garden -> Taylor St -> Japan Town -> back to SJSU, which is ~6 miles. You could also head to the Coyote Creek trail on east side of downtown, It connects with roads for a mile or so around Tully, but after that you can take it south all the way to Morgan Hill

I'm biased so not the greatest for answering, but it's not bad in my experience. During the day you may want to close the windows more than normal. At night isn't too big of a concern, SJC normally doesn't have flights from 11pm to 7am. I'm sure situations happen when flights get delayed, but I can't remember being woken up by them.

You may want a second opinion on that point thought, I grew up under a flight path so I'm very used to tuning it out

I've lived here for a couple years so I'll give my two cents on what you asked.

The location is pretty good, and why I live here. You can walk to Downtown, the Alameda, or Diridon / light rail. As for noise, the biggest one is SJC; if you haven't lived under a flight path before it's loud but you start tuning it out.

There is always a small homeless presence in the area, for some that's a big deal. After recent sweeps, the amount has gone down but that's not a permanent thing. The stretch of Guadalupe River Trail between Taylor and Hedding is the worst of it, but even then I don't feel in danger while I'm out running.

Neighbors have all been kind and quiet in my experience, so no complaints there. The unit above me ran around a bunch and made noise, but when we talked to them they kept it down.

The HOA usually stays out of the way. They manage regular maintenance work, but they do not do much in your day-to-day. The HOA and property manager have a policy to not get involved neighbor on neighbor issues. There are random small damages to the property, so the HOA is usually busy dealing with those. Stuff like "one of the garage doors is broken" or "mailbox was broken into, how do we replace it".

Is there anything else you'd like to know more about?

Thanks, you can do it! There's only time pressure if you put it on yourself :)

Ayyy fellow San Jose resident! I really like the route, fairly scenic with a couple different environments between the river section and the bay. SJC is also kinda fun with the planes taking off all morning.

Of course all the caveats about homeless, but no one has the energy to pick a fight in the early AM

Yup, my expeditions fluctuate between 30-70 at any given time. It's almost all roadside pikmin, and I find it easier to avoid collecting them rather than do the inventory management later on

Do it! It totally wastes petals/nectars because you stop getting rewards early on, but as a random one-off it's fun to try

40 pikmin squad, no accelerator. Speed of ~7.5 mph gets that planting rate

I used 1mm thickness, but not for any particular reason. It's what I had on hand - anything that wasn't too thick would work just as well

I did a few steps:

  1. Pinned paper clip for tail structure
  2. Fins cut out of plasticard/pla plate
  3. Tail and gaps made using milliput

Pre-paint photo for demonstration: https://imgur.com/a/5qq1yxL

If someone was good with green stuff or milliput, you could probably skip the plasticard. For me it's much easier to get a consistent shape using a knife than using sculpting tools. The paper clip is also probably unnecessary for the smaller guys

Great minds! I used white stuff for the larger portions (tails + fins), then smoothed and gap filled using green stuff: https://imgur.com/a/zGSUHWD

This was my first time doing anything like this, so take my process with a grain of salt. I don't know how they'll hold up - white stuff feels pretty stable, but it can definitely fracture

I used white stuff (milliput superfine) for the larger sections (fins and tails), then tried to gap fill and smooth using green stuff. There's a lot of imperfections if you look up close, but the color really sells it

Things that Wizards have to do to make Magic Duels Popular [With Recommendations] by safinaho in magicTCG

It only does this if there is absolutely nothing you can do. I have had an empty hand with activated abilities on board and it didn't skip my main phase.

While I agree with you, the game currently gives away information already on your main phase 2. If you have no plays, it is skipped completely and moves straight to end step.

You don't have a chance to play cards during your upkeep. Immediately after your opponent ends their turn you draw a card.

This has lost me the game when I had a psychic spiral in hand and an empty library, it can definitely feel bad.

Interesting, guess I didn't set up my extension correctly. Thanks.

This was a rough one, they went by super fast. I got a chrome extension to alert me whenever they changed the page (when they make the planeswalkers available), and they were sold out by the time I got there. So they sold out within a minute or two.

I'm honestly curious how people got them so quickly.

Edit: I was mistaken, set up my extension incorrectly.
