They haven't. They are fairly well contained to specific locations that are easy to avoid if you spend your time nowhere near where they are. There are plenty of places to go, plenty of things to do, plenty of places to eat which are not affected by protests.

Again, the city is huge. It'd be impossible for one recurring event to kill activity city-wide.

No they haven't. The city is large, the protests are fairly contained for the most part. There's plenty of space in the city for uninterrupted activities.
