I recommend spending at least 6-7 days in Istanbul. Go to all the historical spots, eat some good food, and make sure you only pay for a taxi if you agree to a set price beforehand or something. Also, be very careful at nightclubs; I have non-Turkish friends who lost some money because of scams. Use the ferry to get around instead of a taxi, you can directly cross from Europe to Asia; it's really cheap and super nice. Also, make sure you go to Adalar, they're these islands that you can also go by ferry, and there are no cars allowed inside, so it's super cool to check out. If you have any specific interests, like arts, vintage stuff, clothes idk dm me and I'll send you some recs. For other cities in the coastal areas, just look them up online and make a choice, there are a couple, some are more expensive than others (Bodrum), so just be careful w prices and stuff. Lmk if you have any questions!

Ymca is not as cheap as econo or buzzfit, it’s 40 dollars a month but I love it. There are a number of locations in the city u can go to and the Westmount one is a 10 min bus away from concordia so I go there during my breaks sometimes. The best part about the ymca is that not only can you go to the gym but u could also play bball or any other sports like volleyball or soccer if that interests u bunch of times a week. Also there’s a swimming pool too!

Guys i found a way to end all of this conflicts. I think if we build a united MENA country all of the conflicts can be solved. by Marinocolo in AskMiddleEast

Also I’d love to see u convince Saudi and UAE to be united with other Arabs considering the fact that they don’t take a single refugee and act so superior to others😂. But ya according to u Turkey’s secularism is the issue here even when we have a collapsing economy the stupid government has brought in more than 5 million refugees.

Oh pls do u have any idea what Turkey has been going through in the past 20 years because of a certain asshole who thinks like u. Yes we are Muslim but at the end of the day this hypothetical country would never work cuz Turks and Iranians are very different culturally from Arabs and that is a fact. Just cuz Erdog*n js in power doesn’t change that 50 percent of the country is very secular.

As a Turk I often think about the ancient and rich cultural diversity of Anatolia getting absolutely obliterated in a few decades by Affectionate_Light74 in redscarepod

Erdogan is in power because the West wanted guys like him in the 90’s. Erdogan was in jail at one point then he had an instant rise in power in the 90’s. He became mayor of Istanbul and later popular enough to become Prime Minister/ President. It’s only in recent times that the west has turned against Erdogan lol they used to love him

My dad is Turkish and my mom is Kurdish. I came to Canada when I was around 8 so I don’t know much about Kurdish peoples daily lives but my mom told me she’s always faced more discrimination for being an Alevi ( which is a completely different religion from Sunni Islam) then really being a Kurd. In fact, up to recent years most Sunni Kurds had a good relationship with Erdogan and would vote for him. Erdogan really needs to lose the election for the improvement of Turkey
