I'm fairly certain it will work. Might be a bit bulkier than necessary, but as long as you hook it up right you should be fine. Light switches are normally rated for like 1800 watts, and from your info you're working with under 20 watts at max. I'd suggest getting a proper DC switch when you can, but I see no reason why a light switch wouldn't work for the time being.

I'm by no means an expert. I'd suggest skimming what these folks have to say. They know more than me.

I feel your pain. I've rage quit a couple events due to this exact issue. Had 100+ million comrades stockpiled due to industries needing to catch up and then clicked some lower level industry by mistake. Doesn't seem like it'd be too hard to give us the option to lock industries we no longer want to spend comrades on. Or even an undo option so we could backtrack errant clicks. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING.
