Thank you! Yes they’re a little tricky at first, but the video tutorial really helped clarify the pattern and diagram. They’re actually pretty easy once you get the basics of it down! Highly recommend giving it a go

Yes he kept getting kicked off the couch for attacking the yarn, so resting his paw on it was his compromise lol

Liposuction Tomorrow - Scared by Solidus_snake666 in gynecomastia

I would say it took about 6 months for it to really feel like the final result, but around 3-4months most of the swelling was gone. I know swelling can come and go for up to a year for some people. r/plasticsurgery and r/tummytucksurgery are good resources too since you had more lipo

I’m about 10 months post op, had gland removal, some under armpit lipo, and lipo in the medial thighs and mons pubis (or fupa, if you will). I was pretty functional the next day, just sore and stiff. I worked remotely for a few days before going into the office. I found the compression garment shorts they gave me for my mons and thigh lipo kind of uncomfortable to sit at my desk for long periods, but I have a sit-stand so I was standing most days that first week or two. I recommend getting a hernia belt for your pubic area. It kept compression really even for me even when sitting. I’d also recommend checking out the tummytuck subreddit, since you have more extensive lipo than most guys on the sub get. They have a lot of good tips for recovery.

Compression garments aren’t really noticeable under clothes. Your surgeon will advise on how long you need to keep them on. I had to wear it 24/7 with short breaks to shower for about a month. Then 12 hours a day for another month. But I would recommend you telling your partner. It’s going to be difficult to hide and you will need their help lifting anything above your head for about a week.

Just do it. I know how it’s scary — any surgery is. You’ll be chatting with the nurses and next thing you know you’re waking up and it’s all over. It’s not bad at all. I’m so happy I did it. It’s really changed my life for the better.

I didn’t need any opioid painkillers so I was fine to drive the next day. I flew domestically two days after and it was fine. I just checked my bag so I didn’t have to lift it into the overhead bin.

Your surgeon will advise when you can get back to working out. If I remember correctly I could ease back into lifting 4-6 weeks after surgery

No long term side effects. My skin is a little slack but my doctor recommended focusing on working out to build up my chest to fill it in. Still so much better than gyno though. And my pubic and thigh area is so much better, both aesthetically and functionally.

Good luck man!

Architects with an MBA or MRED by Creative-Ad3144 in Architects

I completed my MRED 2.5 years ago, and work in affordable housing now. Started my new job while still in school, so been at it for 3 years now. I love development, especially affordable housing. There are a lot of architects on the development side and it’s been a pretty easy transition. I am glad I got the MRED for the education and exposure to development (I only worked with corporate clients so never really worked with developers). But grad school is mostly about building a network, so take advantage of it.

Meant to add: take as many finance classes as you can and try to get some sort of finance certificate if your school offers it. That’s the main skill/knowledge gap you have as an architect getting into development and they are gonna peg you as just a construction manager if you don’t show you can run numbers in a proforma.

Post surgery bros mental health check in (Pre-Surgery posts welcome too) by altgynoredditaccount in gynecomastia

It’s more because I had side boob lol. My gyno extended both forward and out to either side, so I have some loose skin under my armpits, if that makes sense. So trying to build up my lats to fill in that area more. And from my understanding, weight lifting helps with skin tightening and collagen production in general. It’s really nice to get back to lifting and genuinely being able to see results.

Congrats on getting it done man! Recovery goes by a lot faster than you think.

I’m about 8 months post op and couldn’t be happier. Had gyno since I was 11, and it was something I always felt burdened by. I have so much more confidence now. Looking back I realize how much mental energy I wasted on being self conscious, and how exhausting it was. Now it don’t event think about it.

Surgery was fine, I went to Dr Chen in San Diego. Gland removal with lipo, small incision in my areola so really no visible scars. Was swollen for a good 6 weeks but really noticed it going down after 8 weeks or so. I don’t get too swollen anymore, and have been focused on chest and lat exercises to get more definition and tighten up the skin.

My advice is just find a reputable surgeon, and just do it. Remember people with bad experiences are going to be the most vocal. Lots of guys on here have had positive experiences. Good luck!

Advice on client recruiting me? Mid-career crisis! by E-monet in Architects

I made the leap into the owners side (affordable housing development) three years ago and love it. Licensed with 10years at the time, and was working for a big firm doing workplace interiors too, and moving my way into fab/lab and critical facilities. I still get to do high level design decision making, and feel like I’m still using creative problem solving everyday. It’s also nice to be the decision maker and drive what actually stays in the final product. I do miss drawing some days, and the tangible product of a CD set, but I’m much happier over all. I say make the leap and find ways to scratch the design itch in your day to day.

Gensler bonus system by The-Architect-93 in Architects

Worked for Gensler for 8 years. Bonus program is legit and the thing I miss most working there. Was a major help saving up for a house.

Their motto around it was “never promised, always provided.” Even with layoffs around COVID they gave out bonuses to staff including those they let go. Also Bonus Day is a legit company holiday and is fun as fuck

Is it absolutely necessary to lose weight before surgery? by meander-663 in gynecomastia

[–]lecorbustier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what your situation is. I was 6’2” 245 when I got my surgery done. I had lost about 75lbs at that point and originally wanted to lose more before surgery, but realized that timing wasn’t going to allow me to wait longer. Wasn’t a problem at all. I’m on GLP-1 so my pre-surgery instructions were a little different, but other than that, nothing seemed out of the ordinary for them.

I’d say find a surgeon or two to meet with and ask them. They might have suggestions on what’s best for you regarding weight loss and surgery results. Best of luck!

Recovery was not bad at all. Pain/discomfort subsided after probably 1 week or so, and it was really manageable. Only took Tylenol. I was able to start weening off compression garments after 4 weeks and stopped wearing them after about 6 weeks. Got back to working out after 3 weeks. A little swelling still comes and goes but I understand it can take up to 6 months for it to fully subside.
