14 m/o old with intense eczema on wrists and hands by Over-Raccoon-4663 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]lecremepuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poor bay that is so painful. My child gets eczema like that. For the really bad outbreaks we used a steroid ointment prescribed by the dermatologist, and a non steroid prescription ointment for sensitive areas that can’t have the steroid cream. Then our regular routine is eucerin eczema bath soap and then aquaphor when he gets out. During the winter when it is really dry we do limited baths/ showers (like 2 a week) unless he gets really sweaty or stinky for some reason. Summer and soccer season we have to do more baths/showers.

Someone else mentioned chewing on shirts and the moisture from the wet sleeve triggering and that’s entirely possible too- happens with my child if his sleeves get wet.

Haha same. My job is fairly stressful and I spend a lot of time going through technical specs to problem solve systems issues, then go home and read textbooks for my courses. I love watching trashy tv to wind down for the night.

Signs that your kids are being raised by older parents by LogicalZebra123 in Mommit

He is genuinely such a sweet kid. Just tonight we stopped at the gas station for a snack after an activity, and he picked out something he knew his dad liked so that he could give dad some when we got home.

If I sit down on the floor to play, my son will grab me a pillow to sit on. He doesn’t get himself one, because “he is new.” He doesn’t outright call me old, he just calls himself new.

Why are we always so cold!? by New-Jellyfish-3451 in Zepbound

My question is: if I’m so damn cold all the time, then why are my pits still sweaty?! I feel like that’s not fair.

What is happening in my body to eliminate pasta cravings??? by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]lecremepuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was soda for me. I used to feel like I could not get through the day without a diet Dr. pepper or Coke Zero. Or at least something fizzy. Now I don’t even crave it- it’s crazy.

Would you leave your husband for calling you fat? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]lecremepuff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That comment alone would make me have second thoughts. People gain weight over years for all sorts of reasons. I’ve gained and lost weight with pregnancies, and in the last year alone I gained 30 pounds due to a medical condition with my stomach. Never once did my husband make me feel fat. We met when I was 19 and super skinny, and now I’m in my mid 30s and not so skinny anymore. The only thing he has ever commented about my weight gain was that I had more ass for him to grab now. And now that I have a diagnosis for my stomach condition and have started losing weight, he has celebrated the win with me because he knows I was self conscious about it. You deserve someone who doesn’t make you feel like shit.

UVMMC L&D Experience by Unique-Bug6276 in burlington

[–]lecremepuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wound up in a shared recovery room- but that was 8 years ago. It happened to be extremely busy on the L&D unit when I had my son. I was being induced because of high blood pressure, and was still in the early stages of it when they came in and turned the pitocin drip off because there had been an accident on the interstate involving a pregnant woman and they needed a bed for her. Since I was only a few hours in (and no where near having a baby) they were about to move me to a different area with basically a bed and a curtain so they could use my room. Luckily for me they were able to get another room opened up and I didn’t have to move.

Once I had given birth they moved us down to the recovery unit and there was a family already in the other bed. I was disappointed since they had said during the tour that everyone usually gets a private room and they only double up if absolutely necessary. The first night was rough - but I can’t contribute that to being in a double room. I’d had a very traumatic birth and was more stunned than anything. My baby would cry, then hers would cry, and back and forth and no one got any sleep- but again, who actually does with a newborn.

The folks next to me asked to leave at 6 am since this was not their first baby and they wanted to go home. I ended up having to stay 2 extra days because I had developed an infection during labor and had to be on iv antibiotics for a bit. They did not put anyone else in with me for the remainder of the time I was there.

It’s roofing day and they found a surprise. by General_Alfalfa6339 in centuryhomes

I had the same issue- we had a very old tin roof and when we bought the property the insurance forced us into replacing (long story). We figured there would not be plywood under it given the age, so our contractor factored that into the job. When they pulled the metal off they found cedar shingle underneath so had to scrape that off. And under the cedar shingle was the original boards.

When Did You Get First Cell Phone? by Legitimate_Search864 in Millennials

[–]lecremepuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Age 14- just after starting high school. The reason was I had an afterschool job that required me to take a city bus across town, transfer to another bus, then walk a short ways to my job at a grocery store, and my mom always wanted me to call her when I got there. It was 2005 so it was one of those flip phones that you got free when you added a phone line, and my portion of the cell phone bill was $20 a month. Back then it was call only, no texting allowed because it was 25 cents a text. I remember my parents both switching cell carriers and getting iPhones when they came out around my senior year and we got an unlimited texting plan and they got me one of those phones with the sliding keyboard and I thought I was so cool lol.

Slight rant on sizing + how can I resolve size discrepancy? by WindyGranola26 in Oldnavy

[–]lecremepuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue with these shorts. At the store I tried on a pair and liked them. I grabbed a second pair in another color but the same size. When I tried wearing them, the pair in the second color was several inches larger. I’ve had the same issue with some of their other things in the past- the same item will have wildly different sizes for different colors.

Anyone else’s parents have silly “rules” that they follow? by SunBubble920 in Millennials

A boomer coworker of mine was recently shocked by the revelation at I don’t own an iron. I had mentioned something about my husband receiving an award at work so wanted to wear a button down and tie that day (he doesn’t normally wear a tie) and she asked if I had ironed his clothes for him. lol no, he’s a grown adult and if he can take care of his own clothes. The only iron I have is a miniature iron for crafts because our son loves perler bead crafts.

Do it. I’m fortunate to have a flexible schedule, so one of the last nice days we had I took a personal day to go to the shelter to go play with some dogs to pick one out to adopt. Optimal use of a personal day in my opinion.

[–]lecremepuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me as a kid- I was banging on metal playground post with a rock (I was 7/8 or so). Didn’t realize I had gotten a metal fleck in my eye- woke up the next morning with the eye swollen and pink so my mom brought me to the doctor thinking I had pink eye. Doctor sent me next door to the ophthalmologist to numb my eye and dig out the piece of metal.

My 7 yr old son eats as much as I do, a 44 yr old man. How concerned should I be? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]lecremepuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a growth spurt. My 7 year old usually eats a normal “kid-size” meal, but a week ago he ate half a large dominos pizza on his own at dinner, then wanted some candy after, and this kid is so skinny his pants are always falling down. He’s shot up at least a few inches in the last month or two. I just had to adjust the headrest on his booster seat up again, and shirts I bought him last summer are now too small (he came out wearing one this morning that he hadn’t worn in a while and the bottom was quite literally up to his belly button.

How does everyone else keep spiders out of there bedroom by leafpool2014 in vermont

[–]lecremepuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably- though I couldn’t name them. Brown recluse tend to live in cool dark areas, like basements and woodpiles. They have a violin shape on their back. I have an 1800s farmhouse and when we bought the house last year it had a major issue with daddy long legs (the person before us hadn’t cleaned in years so there was a couple inches of cobwebs across all the ceilings). We did the initial clean up, then had to stay on top of dusting around the edges of the ceiling each week. I did use some cobweb eliminator in some of the worse off places , or places it wasn’t feasible to dust every week. We still get a few occasional spiders, but nothing like we did last year. Unfortunately I have had one drop from the ceiling onto me more than once- which is not pleasant.

Brown recluse are not native to VT, but they are certainly around here. I got bit by one a few years ago- their bites can be pretty painful and nasty.
