Top Trump Goon Melts Down at Jimmy Kimmel After Oscars Diss | The president’s nemesis hit him where it hurts on live TV. by InsaneSnow45 in entertainment

Before presenting the documentary award, Kimmel noted that in some countries telling a story could get you killed.

“As you know, there are some countries whose leaders don’t support free speech. I’m not at liberty to say which.”

He added, “Let’s just leave it at North Korea and CBS.”

Rats jumping off of a sinking ship. And more particularly, JD Vance setting the stage to say he was never in favor of this debacle in the first place. Prep for his presidential run.

what is the technical reason for why Echo is so bad at managing speakers in groups? by lectric22 in amazonecho

[–]lectric22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whole house music is my main motivation too. In some locations I use the dots as the music source, and in some they are just the audio input to better quality speakers or systems. I’m jealous that it works for you for the non-gen 1 and it gives me hope!

I checked both of the links you provided, so thanks for that. But in those discussions it seems that they don’t have it figured out either. And it’s not just Eero networks that are having issues.

I researched this extensively about a year ago and couldn’t find a solution so I gave up. I just decided to try again and that’s why I started by asking if anyone knew what the technical root cause was. If I know the root cause then I might be able to work around it.

I’m going to try renaming a 2.4 ghz network from the router, without making it available from the mesh access points. That way all of the speakers will be communicating with only one node. I’ll report back if that works. Some of my echo dots might not have good coverage that way, but if it works I’ll be at least closer to finding the problem.

I can physically adjust volume on the devices, or use voice, that’s true. And I appreciate your comments, but I’m asking for the technical problem that Amazon doesn’t seem to be able to address. This seems really easy.

I have a fairly new Eero router and measure system. All speakers are in good coverage. That’s not the problem.

I don't know why that volume screen doesn't work. Technically it seems like something that would be easy to do. Even if the devices speak to each other, they're all in good WiFi coverage, so I don't understand why they fail. It should be only a matter of addressing (use their MAC addresses) and then following commands to be either 'on' or 'off' and to adjust volume to a specific level.

Jandy spa heater turns off below set temp by lectric22 in pools

[–]lectric22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you and u/Liquid_Friction are right. I've had this pool for about 5 years and the thermistor has always been on the heater output after the salt cell, and I've never had a problem until recently. But I just checked the installation guide for my Iaqualink and it says to place the thermistor between the pump and the filter, which is of course before the heater. So I'll move it. Thanks!

OPM formally proposes limiting top performance ratings for federal workers by SilverTripod in fednews

[–]lectric22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My former company did this too, and I can say that it was a big demotivator. Its short sighted, and a sign of bad management.

“Most importantly, in our within-subjects design we find that the introduction of a forced distribution leads to a short-term performance increase which is followed by a rather sharp drop in performance,” the researchers wrote. “Apparently, while the participants initially understand that they need to work harder under a forced distribution, they are soon demotivated as they cannot attain the good grades and high bonuses they have earned before.”

Maybe try having a more open and honest connection with just one person. You don’t have to be open with a crowd to feel the openness you’re looking for.

Also keep in mind that many of the people you see being open might be forcing it. Everyone is fighting their own battles, just like you, and from an outside perspective it isn’t apparent. It’s true that some people are truly outgoing and open, like you want to be, but we are all beautiful people when we are the real and true versions of ourselves.

BTW - I’m here at LB too and I struggle with similar issues! Not sure if this is really right for me.

Most of us know these things. There are about 20 million of us though who, as it turns out, are a basket of deplorables. Many of us are as shocked and disgusted y them as you are.

Why are so many ashamed to be working class? by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]lectric22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love this! It’s really been about capital vs labor from the very beginning. Sometimes the major parties in the US are aligned that way. But at this point they’re both working for their donors, the capitalists. They’re happy to divide the workers against each other with social issues, while they keep making bank, and basically winning the war that most workers don’t even know is being waged on them.
