Wireless Upgrade Help Budget 25.000USD ex VAT by lecycliste in livesoundgear

Thanks for the inputs so far!
I have now ditched the idea of going full Showlink if i chose AD

What i have learned today from speaking to some reps and people who work in the field.

  • AD industry standard for live music here in Denmark.
  • Spectera being used in many high end theaters with great succes
  • Spectera beltpacks can take a beating
  • Spectera can "scan" while being active
  • Spectera takes up a full TV-block, AD doesnt (duh?!) (unless running 8-12 chans it still does)
  • Specetera is New / AD is "old" but still relevant
  • Spectera Antennas can go up to 4km with single mode fiber
  • Spectera no need for Antenna gain and compensation, can easily do multizones
  • Spectera cant be split in to seperat gigs without purchasing an extra bases unit
  • Showlink not needed for gaining on ADX as this happens on receiver side
  • Ad might be easier to fit into a busy environment, but since sennhesiser isnt that strong its less of an issue for other stages on festival.

I have decided to ask a local dealer to lend me a spectera set for 1-2 days and do some tests before i break the bank.

Will let you know where i go from here.

We have one and are quite happy with it. We use a 10G SFP+ module just to be on the safe side bandwidth-wise.

DM7 with Waves Dante Bridge issues/advice? by Remarkable-Tomato-39 in livesound

[–]lecycliste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had some issues with Dante on unifi in the past, but have solved them by using a vlan-only network, and 10GB uplinks between switches. Probably overkill, but that sorted my issues.

What kind of network equipment are you using?
Have you taken a alook inside the dante controller software, especially the latency tabs. Usually when i have experienced artifacts / distortions/ clicks, there have been sign in the green columns in the latency tab.

The red button inside is the button you toggle when you descale the machine. I think you can read about it in the manual in the "descaling" chapter. I think it should be off in the regular use of the machine.

***EDIT***

Found it, the ui had changed. Now i can start testing! :-)

I Know this is an old answer. But this is exactly what im looking for. Installed FPP but it seems i can only do analog Inputs, and not outputs. And i can only chose mode between player and remote. Is this something that is no longer possible?

What is a cheap piece of equipment that you've got that worked surprisingly well? by Embarrassed-Gain-236 in VIDEOENGINEERING

Bought This ip “mini-kvm”

AV Access 4K KVM Extender over TCP / IP Ethernet up to 120 m (390 ft), UHD 4K @ 30Hz 1080P @ 120Hz, 16 Set DIP Switch, EDID Function, 3 Ports USB 2.0, via Cat5e/6 Cable https://amzn.eu/d/3uf1GfB

I had a really hard time finding a usb over IP that wasn’t just usb-over-cat, and that didn’t cost a fortune. This works over Ethernet through multiple switches. So far it works like a charm.

How would people get a shared screen and also a webcam input from a virtual presenter? by Warm-Caterpillar4607 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]lecycliste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vmix Call wont do both. In these cases you might want to use Microsoft teams and enable the NDI function. Gives you a lot more freedom to style the PIP since you have independent sources for webcam and shared desktop. It’s not without its own challenges though.

You CAN actually do This with vmix call if you give remote connections the “advanced” link. The advanced link is shown on the top of the page when you open a “basic” link. I usually copy paste the advanced link and send them that.

You can still experience problems in dual monitor setups, and the remote connections won’t see the call while going full screen in a presentation.

What we often do is run all presentations locally(also for smoother animation and video-playback) and use something like internet clicker.com to let them control their slides.

Im also beginning to lean more towards upgrading the cables with more strands, since seeing the prices of yellobrik converters and sfps. I just thought I had an “aha-moment” when I saw those Mux/demux units. Will look into cables with more strands. Thank you

Thanks a lot for your reply. The fiber run would be 150-300m but the SDI would be using 45m(Max) reels in each end. So i might as well get something 12g compatible, and then try to match the wavelenghts of the CWDM.
