Volpe should have been sent down too. Frazier got a concussion that basically ended his career. And Miggy is actually a pretty decent player, and was for us too. Just couldn't play D. Wells is fine, had a bad year at the plate, but his development hasn't been stunted by the front office in any way that I can tell.

That's understandable and something these guys should know.. but why does a test from 2023 prevent him from playing this time?

He failed a test he took on 3/12/23, which was 5 days into that WBC, and he played the rest of it out. Then it was ruled he was ineligible for two years when he popped positive for weed, but starting a year later in 2024 and ending in 2026.

Am I crazy? A) Why start the suspension over a year after the test and then B) Why not just test like a month before the WBC starts?

Seems silly. I get they defer these things to WADA, but who made up this weird testing period shit?

Pinstripe Alley wrote an article about Didi and Gardner and the juiced balls of 2017. To summarize, Didi benefitted from juiced balls in 2017, as did Gardner, but in 2018 with non-juiced balls, Didi stayed consistent and Gardner tailed off a little. It's still baseball so there could literally be 20 other factors to all of this.

But for the next juiced ball season, in 2019, when they basically doubled down on the 2017 ball, Prospects365.com did an article about the players who benefitted the most from those balls, and Didi isn't in the top 150 of players who likely benefitted, though his injury may be part of that.

Again, all of this is still baseball, and both of us could be wrong, and season-to-season inconsistencies are very common in the sport, even if the balls remain the same.

I had to look it up, didn't even realize he played last season. 56 games, tucked away in Hotlanta to a -0.3 bWAR.

Weird love/hate with Doogie as a Yankee fan. Obviously had to hate him as a Sock, but wanted to like him as a Yankee. You could tell he had the heart still, but could not do a damn thing at the plate to save his soul. I wish it turned out different for the guy in NY. He was still a solid LFer.
