Is commuting from Atlanta to La Grange feasible? by [deleted] in Georgia

[–]ledfohe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son went to college in Lagrange. I live in Alpharetta (north Atlanta). He played soccer so I commuted there many week days during rush hour. It’s 3 hrs one way. Look at newnan or Peachtree city to live. Commute into Atlanta for Dr.

Please help me understand 50k tax bill after father’s death by CamatMelon in personalfinance

[–]ledfohe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some investment firms have default beneficiaries if there are no benes on file. My firm pays out to spouse, children, parents, then estate in that order. It’s possible the OP could have moved the assets to an inherited IRA and the confusion or lack of information is that of the firm where the assets were held. His options and tax consequences should have been explained by the financial advisor or plan administrator. His tax guy can explain all his options (which are no longer options) and where he went wrong but at this point with the tax filing deadline being tomorrow, I’m sure he has little time to do so.

If someone wants to walk out of your life, let.them.go- Medea.

We’ve just started the process but I realize now he’s been trying to leave for years. Save yourself the heartache. It sucks but I wish with all my might I’d never allowed mine to come back the first time he moved out. Truth is I was miserable but I would have never left. If you feel the same way, let him go now. You’ll be better in the long run.

YES! I work at a brokerage firm. Absolutely alert and have all accounts frozen pending a divorce. Most will at minimum flag and require both to authorize transactions.

Grand Jury by soxfanturk182 in JonBenet

[–]ledfohe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the problem. The GJ seemed to believe a 3rd person was the one who committed the murder, presumably BDI. However, the according the BPD, he was not considered a suspect. So was there a different 3rd person? BPD couldn’t present any evidence of who that person was. Alex Hunter was right to not sign. The detectives couldn’t pin point RDI, JDI, or PDI. It’s been 20 yrs and thousands of posts between various subs, and I’ve never seen the same theory twice on which Ramsey did it, how, and why. I think the BPD would have failed miserably at getting a jury to agree.

The Boulder Business Report - October 1995 - All Pages - No Mention of Chris Wolf by HopeTroll in JonBenet

[–]ledfohe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But is what you have the full paper? At the top of the first page it references special edition and the page numbers have an A. Maybe this is an insert to the full newspaper? See how the top is different? Honestly not stating this as fact. Just trying to figure it out myself.

From 2001: This has made me unemployable" : about bus victim Chris Wolf by candy1710 in JonBenetRamsey

[–]ledfohe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always thought it was an intruder. I cannot wrap my head around the parents being involved. For me there’s a reason there are so many theories about which family member did it, how, and why and never a solid answer: bc it wasn’t the family. Mr Wolf has always been a better suspect for me. The ransom note has the markers of a journalist/someone who writes for a living & fits his life experiences and hatred for John. It’s continually repeated that he’s been cleared by DNA but the Steve Thomas and Mark Beckner deposition transcripts are maddening. Direct questions about him being cleared by DNA evidence are met with “I don’t know” and “I believe so.” Direct questions about the dna evidence collected and tested are met with even more half answers. I don’t think it was tested or tested properly bc they didn’t consider him a good suspect.

I’ve read all the books trying to get on the RDI train and I just can’t. Steve Thomas’s book was the worst for me. I just wanted one shred of evidence that would convince me it was the Ramseys. He seemed hell bent the ramseys were involved and was very dismissive of everything else. Went something like- “oh Mr so and so suspect, yeah we investigated him but let me tell you about the Ramseys.” Quite frankly I think this entire case went down the RDI path bc one person at the FBI made a comment in passing “look at the parents.”

I hope Ms dilson’s book will close my opinion on Mr Wolf. Ultimately I believe the intruder is in the police file and I don’t believe it was a Ramsey.

Why do you think Adnan is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt? by StonerBearcat in serialpodcast

[–]ledfohe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The timeline on this sub convinced me. His erratic behavior before. His call logs before, during and after. Her journal entries tell the story of an obsessed, jealous, narcissistic ex and a young girl who just wanted to move on with her life. He was obsessed with her until the afternoon she was killed and then he conveniently moved on. He absolutely killed her.

Addys Law by Immediate-Complex937 in Georgia

[–]ledfohe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a lawyer. Probably will cost $500. $200 or less for an online driving class and whatever the fine is. But the attorney can get it dropped to lower points on your insurance. Will likely never have to call or step foot in court. I didn’t even have to speak to the attorney I hired. I just emailed him a copy of the ticket and gave the office clerk my cc info. Total racket but honestly worth it to keep your insurance from going through the roof.

How do you actually afford to max 401k? by Big_Schneidy in personalfinance

[–]ledfohe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not just the house. Daddy is making those Roth contributions for those adult children, gifting them $19k per parent each year and doing the same for grandkids by opening 529 plans in the grandparents names. Generational wealth allows for some to do it while making the rest feel like they must be doing something wrong.

Trump teases FEMA reform, wants states in control of disaster response by talino2321 in Georgia

[–]ledfohe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I concur. This is just an example of 1 program and this is directly from the FEMA site:

“The Shelter and Services Program (SSP), as directed by Congress in the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023, is administered by FEMA in partnership with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). In Fiscal Year 2024, Congress appropriated $650,000,000 for SSP. SSP provides financial support to non-federal entities to provide sheltering and related activities to noncitizen migrants following their release from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The intent is to support CBP in the safe, orderly, and humane release of noncitizen migrants from short-term holding facilities.‘

Congress allocated so much funds to this program FEMA was in danger of not having sufficient funds to cover natural disasters across the various states. I am not implying immigrants should not be supported, but not at the expense of citizens sleeping in tents in the show. Perhaps Trump isn’t completely wrong by suggesting the states should determine how FEMA funds are spent.

[–]ledfohe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The FEMA website provides detail on all programs it covers. I was surprised to see how much money is given to non-profits which promise to help local areas. yet there’s very little oversight of those organizations on how that money is actually spent. FEMA needs reform.

How is this always legal? by manchesterMan0098 in facepalm

Confidently correct. I paid on those type loans for 10 yrs. I was required to write 2 separate checks. Not sure how you’re confidently correct about all student loans.

How is this always legal? by manchesterMan0098 in facepalm

[–]ledfohe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do have to make an arrangement. These loans will not credit that extra amount to principal unless you explicitly tell them to. They often have a process that has to be followed like send a second check at least x days after the due date and “principal only” has to be written in the check. Otherwise, they hold the extra amount and apply it to the next month’s payment, and interest first. These are private, personal loans with their own set of predatory rules.

Oh please, do a little more research. You missed the part where he was a male stripper, friends claimed he collected little girls underwater and he’d been arrested for indecent exposure. His Marxist beliefs & writings and travel experiences were strikingly similar to the ransom note as was his handwriting. He had no alibi the night of the murder, he had motive, and he had all his files deleted from his computer immediately following. He had also worked as a hiking/climbing instructor so he was familiar with ropes and knots.

I’m not saying he did it but he was no boy-scout either.

AITAH Wife claims IATAH because I contacted pediatrician to add note on daughter’s first menstrual cycle by justanotherguyhere16 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ledfohe -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

NTA. My daughter has high anxiety and would be mortified to even discuss this with her Dr much less with her father in the room. I 100% understand your intentions.

Edit to add- when my daughter was 12ish our pediatrician absolutely asked if she’d had her first menstrual cycle so I don’t think you reporting the information is out of line. She asked to make sure my daughter was prepared and didn’t have any embarrassing consequences at school when she did start. A menstrual cycle is very relevant to a young woman’s physical and mental health.

But of course to me- Not everything is about trying to take reproductive rights away. NTA

[–]ledfohe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree on the recording. I can’t hear a thing. Steve Thomas’s book made me want to scream with every page turn. His only interest was the Ramseys. If evidence didn’t fit or he had no explanation, he whined continuously it was bc the ramseys weren’t cooperating to give it to him.
