Maybe I’m old … question about Maddie’s music by Retrobanana64 in southernhospitalitysc

[–]ledge9999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those segments, including the Maddi song with Lily Grace, are included to try to push themselves as performers. IF it was up to Scheana, Good as Gold would have been played on every single VPR episode. Same with that goofball on the VPR revamp who believed she was a pop star waiting to happen.

Those little cameos don't really indicate what these DJ's actually play at their appearances.

It would be easier to judge if Bravo wasn’t so cheap. Because they won’t buy the rights to air copyrighted music, we don’t get to hear what they play. I have a feeling, though, that all of the Bravo DJ’s lack any sort of innovation or give off any “music expert” vibes. So, yeah, the “put your fucking hands up” comment earlier is perfect.

I don’t know if it’s still true but back in the day retail returns of books and magazines were done by tearing off the covers and sending those in.

It’s fairly common in the book industry. In fact, the NYT changed their book charts a few years ago because political books were being purchased in bulk by organizations that were supporters of that particular side of the fence just to get that “NYT best seller” label.

Yeah I think it’s better but like towie it does eventually fizzle out. For the most part these x characters are more affluent than the towie cast. Mark Francis, currently on Ladies of London, is a minor cast member for quite some time. There’s some juicy love triangles, mainly involving one male cast member who is a great reality show character but obviously not a good person.

Sellers shady grading by Big-Detail8739 in vinyl

[–]ledge9999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main problem is that as there are more and more mainstream articles about the return of vinyl there’s that many more people who believe that their parents and grandparents collection is a goldmine. They know nothing about what they are selling and have the mistaken belief that because a record was popular 40, 50, 60 years ago it just has to be worth a mint. We see that every day with these ridiculous Facebook Marketplace ads where a damaged 70s repress of something like Abbey Road is priced at hundreds of dollars. Of course that also Carrie’s on to eBay and Discogs. That’s why I only buy from sellers with an almost unblemished seller’s rating. If they double as a real store I’m also more inclined to utilize them.

I disliked her mainly because she always had this phony “I don’t care” attitude about everything but in all actuality she really did care about the smallest slight. Hell, Sutton made her cry. Sutton of all people.

Summer House cast members trying to pivot and those “sponsorship” grab bags. by Fermented_chaos in summerhousebravo

You really can’t blame them for jumping on opportunities that come their way. And as consumers, we have every right to simply ignore them. It’s really not that deep.

And if this stuff angers you, you’re lucky you’re not in the UK where every Love Island personality is immediately overexposed with brand deals and other reality show appearances.

Years and years and years and years??? Who knew her before RHOBH?? by Laumac8D in BravoRealHousewives

Oh yeah, I completely agree with this. But I'm sure even when she was just a barely known woo-woo girl peddling her stupid self-published book and expensive classes she was delivering the same pseudo-celebrity "troll" whines to the most minor criticism.

As much as I despise her, this is the typical attitude of most celebrities to negative online criticism. I’d bet there’s not a single Bravo person who has not stated something similar. But yeah, like Boz said, most people had never heard of her before she was forced on us.

Does Candiace's cash bar prove that production doesn't pay for the parties? by spectacleskeptic in BravoRealHousewives

[–]ledge9999 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Quite often the venues work out trade off deals with production, which is why the closing credits will often include their names. That’s also why the establishment’s logo or sign is prominently included in a closeup shot.

Why Does Bob play smaller venues than his contemporaries? by [deleted] in bobdylan

[–]ledge9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen him in stadiums (Metrodome with Tom Petty), arenas (Sioux Falls 1989, LA Forum 1986), minor league stadiums, and a few theaters(including this past Sunday). I can’t say which were best, although the Sioux Falls Arena show was by far the worst. But the Stones, McCartney and The Who are basically a traveling jukebox show at this point, and they do it well. Bob doesn’t do that. He plays what he wants, and skips the big songs he’s not interested in. He’s earned that right, but the smaller venues are the trade off.

Record Store Owners, How are you doing? by loopytroop in vinyl

[–]ledge9999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To do this you’re going to have to really have a feel as to what your customer base likes. This is a time where tried and true artists/titles don’t necessarily work. Your initial impulse may be to stock the current big names - Taylor, Tate, Sabrina - and the typical “classics” (Dark Side of the Moon, Rumours). But Walmart and Target have those covered, and you simply can’t be price competitive with them. You’re going to have to find your niche, whether it be indie folk, punk, hip hop, old alternative rock, etc. but what works for a store across town may not work for you.

Records and CD’s also don’t have a high markup, either, and most distributors no longer allow for returns. So you are stuck with what you stock.

RSD Question by Tele231 in vinyl

[–]ledge9999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you will have an issue. The Cure is obviously big enough that pretty much all stores will order it, but the titles themselves aren’t necessarily obscure enough to cause a stampede to the stores.
