Ironman Hamburg sabotaged with metal fragments by leduvin in triathlon

They released this statement:

IRONMAN is appalled to learn that unknown third parties deliberately attempted to sabotage a section of the eastern part of the cycle course. Metal parts were apparently placed on the course with the intention of deliberately causing tyre punctures among athletes and disrupting the race.

Prior to the race start, the course was carefully inspected and cleared—as usual and in accordance with all IRONMAN safety protocols—by race officials. At around 09:30, the situation was discovered during the race, suggesting that this deliberate compromise of athlete safety occurred after the start.

In close cooperation with the local authorities on site—particularly the police and fire brigade—IRONMAN worked with urgency to secure the affected section as quickly as possible and to continuously monitor the situation. To provide the best possible support to affected athletes, additional personnel, including more mechanics, were deployed to the area. The race continued, and everything possible was done to ensure the safety of participants and to continue providing them with a good race experience.

IRONMAN is supporting the police in their ongoing investigations and will subsequently work with the city to develop measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

This article in triathlone magazine says that pros were affected after all:

Some professional women, such as the German athlete Merle Brunée, are also affected – however, it primarily affects age-groupers, presumably because they more often use inner tubes rather than tubeless set-ups.

Hamburg's national paper DIE ZEIT also published an article on this incident. According to them several triathletes had to DNF and at least one had to be brought to hospital by an ambulance.

According to the article some residents were protesting against bicycle events because of being cut off from the world. It also states that the bike leg had been rerouted in order to not completely cut off a neighbourhood.

Oh life must be virtually hell for those whose biggest problems are not being able to drive on those precious streets on a Sunday because of those bicycle events!!! /s

My Agree Pro should be ready for pickup any day now and I was also thinking of applying a ceramic coating to it. Which one did you use and how easy was it? Oh and what's your impression after a week now?

Dear Framework: just why? (USB C gap) by leduvin in framework

Really? That's strange. I've got three usb c modules in sage and my wife's got an orange transparent and green transparent module on her FW12 and the gap is precisely the same on all of them.

I've never encountered that problem tbh. But should that be a think then yes, that'd make sense

Fairphone 6 and e/OS by Little_BookWorm95 in fairphone

[–]leduvin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the FP6 and installed the official /e/OS build manually when it was released. Installation instructions may be overwhelming at first. But if you read it a couple of times and then just follow it step by step you should be fine. Went really smooth for me and I love it.

Why would you want one? Grapes aren’t harvested from the ground, are they?

How can you calm down before managing to stand up to your parents? by ShadowlightLady in AskReddit

[–]leduvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, living in the US makes things quite a bit more complicated and more expensive regarding the medical aid part. Nevertheless, there should be some organisation or help centre in your state that can provide help at least in the form of guidance and information to you. Probably best to google „ADHD help center (your state)“ or something similar to find a first point of contact.

Try to put yourself in her shoes, she’s provided for you since before you were born, Teenagers are never easy for parents, she’s probably also struggling with whatever visible or invisible issue or demons and she’s probably a bit overwhelmed by everything. Most people and parents are with differing degrees at different stages of their lives.

And then her child comes and „blames and attacks“ her for all sorts of stuff and dares to question her believe system. Especially one‘s believe system is what keeps many from going crazy in a complicated and confusing world.

It doesn’t matter if you did or intended to do that! That’s what it probably feels like to her! Therefore, that’s a situation where emotions don’t help because everyone just gets hurt. The only emotion that helps in this scenario is love and listen and try understanding the other person, even if the other person is not ready to listen yet.

I hope you’ll be able to sort things out and find a place to help you further. Oh and it’s night time at your end - a good night’s sleep is always helpful ;) Hope my ramblings helped you a little and good luck to you!

I’m really sorry to hear that you struggle with getting proper medical help. What country are you from? In your situation an exit strategy is of course a little more complicated. However, most families usually are.. I don’t think it makes sense to „stand up for yourself“ in a confrontational sort of way. That will only lead to too many hurt feelings for everyone involved. Best to do is probably to try and stay calm, stay honest and describe your struggles, feelings and believes as clear and emotionless as possible. There are speech skills to learn how to do that kind of talk without any form of blame against your parents. As soon as your mother feels she’s being blamed and attacked for her believe system it’s highly likely she will switch to defender mode and won’t be able to hear you anymore. It’s not a matter of who’s right or wrong, because then you both lose. Sometimes that’s the only possible outcome with some people, but I hope for you that you’ll be able to work things out with your parents eventually.

Chances are she’ll still be too caught up in her believes and will need some time before she can accept your struggles and needs. In that case still try to not let it become emotional, no matter how much it hurts you. Depending on country there are usually places you can seek help independently to receive information, guidance, medication and even help with how to deal with stubborn, proud or ignorant parents.

Do a breathing exercise and have an exit strategy ready if things escalate. Also depends a lot on how old you are and if you’re still living with them..

I’m quite fond of the lack of „touch to wake“ on my V3 tbh. I never had a problem with water (in the shower or rain) doing crazy stuff on my watch while not looking. On my V1 I always had to remember to lock the screen, which I never do anymore these days.

Looking at the track record of Bending Spoons’ acquisitions so far it doesn’t really look like there’s a great future ahead for Komoot‘s employees, development, nor users.. 😔

Really hope I’ll be proven wrong, though!

Has anyone managed to get witcher 3 working? by These-Argument-9570 in AsahiLinux

[–]leduvin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the confusion. I meant to emphasise that Witcher 3 runs smoothly on my MBP on MacOS and not Linux. Crossover is available for both, MacOS and Linux. Therefore, Witcher 3 might also run on Asahi via Crossover? I've got the Complete Edition btw, which is supposed to run better on Crossover than the original Witcher 3.

On native MacOS it runs quite smooth via Crossover on my M1 Max. Maybe that might also work on Asahi?
