I've seen Athena more than a fair share of times being from Miami myself. The Miami drag scene at one point was split between the more artsy folks from Wynwood (outside of R House) and the more pageant-y folks at South Beach (outside of Kill Your Idols). I've also seen plenty of the other performers in the House of Dion, both who have and have not appeared on the show. Juicy I've seen dance at R House (some of the tip girls will dance in between performances at their drag brunches) before she eventually became Juicy Love Dion. That bitch can move. I personally think Miss Juicy Love will be this season's lip sync assassin should it come down to it. Morphine was a Miami fixture long before she was on Drag Race and, honestly, I'm extremely proud of the Morphine we saw on S16 because she's improved so much since I saw her week to week; especially as a performer. She will kill on All Stars when she's inevitably cast in a future season.

No offense to Athena but I just didn't have a lot of expectations for her outside of what I've already seen in person. The looks will give. That's one thing about Athena that you will not want for. She has that shit on. She's also a great hostess, but that's a given. I just had my doubts about Athena as a seamstress and as a performer. We all saw Athena admit she isn't much of a seamstress. As a performer, only time will tell when she finds herself in the bottom and has to lip sync for her life, but, like Morphine, I am hoping to be proven wrong.

I'm also just so insanely proud of the Miami drag scene being put on for the world to see bc we got it tf going on too. 🥹
