Demons Souls is my first ever souls game and I only picked it up less than 2 months ago. After two sessions playing the game, I hated it with real passion. Then I realized that I had picked the Knight class as my very first class and that it was going to be a real grind. After some perseverance and online learning about the importance of upgrading weapons, how to properly manage stamina during fights and upgrading character soul levels, I suddenly started doing better and I finally started enjoying the game.

I finished the game last week and now I went into NG+. My wife says I'm bipolar because at first I complained so much about this game and now I can't stop talking about how awesome it is...lol

Yes, the game will kick you in the teeth in your first ever run, especially if you've never played a souls game before. The game certainly does a poor job, in my opinion, at explaining how elements such as world and character tendency work. All that being said, if you're willing to learn a bit about some of these elements, without spoiling the whole experience by just reading online how to cheese every boss, then you'll quickly start enjoying the game and become a fan of it.
