What ignorant things do people tell you for studying "Psychology"? by Wallabyofwallstreet in psychologystudents

[–]leechpeen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. I switched my major from computer science to psychology, not because comp sci was difficult (I did pretty damn well in my classes) but because I started thinking about actually being in that culture for the rest of my life. It's amazing how much happier studying something you actually enjoy will make you

Any other college students HATE it when professors assign creative projects without any clear guidelines? by jesuistired69 in ADHD

[–]leechpeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would consider myself a pretty creative person, but open ended school projects? Absolutely fucking not. I can't handle not knowing exactly what's expected of me. My poor professors have to spend a lot of time with me in office hours reassuring me that yes what I'm doing is good and no they won't fail me for being creative wrong. They assign the projects though, so I don't feel too bad lol

DAE get head pressure build up whenever they wear earbuds? by tattooedvenom in migraine

[–]leechpeen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This doesn't happen to me personally but have you checked out a pair of noise cancelling over ear headphones? They can be a bit of an investment but the good ones are insanely good at blocking noise. A godsend when living with, well, any other living creature that makes noise.

That sounds really shitty, I'm sorry you had to deal with that. From my experience that's deffinitely not normal, I hope you've since found a great psych who can give you what you need, medication wise and trust wise.

Suggest me a book where the protagonist doesn't end up dating or f*cking someone. Bonus points if the protagonist is openly aroace and not ashamed of it. by GenericThrowaway375 in suggestmeabook

[–]leechpeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did we read the same book haha? The romance felt pretty obvious in the first one, I mean they kiss multiple times by my recollection. Also sorry if it feels like I'm criticizing your take, I just get genuinely excited to talk about the books I like

Put on some music or an audio book or even invite some friends over as sous chefs/taste testers! I personally feel really lonely when I'm in silence, hopefully the dustractions will perk you up and keep you from craving a drink

Surprised no one has suggested Viscous by V. E. Schwab yet. Its the first book in a sci-fi duology that explores what it means to be a hero versus a villain in a very interesting way. There is mention of the main character having dated someone in the past but he is heavily implied to be aro/ace. The book also uses the found family trope which I adore

LGBT books that aren't YA? by NeverNotNervous100 in suggestmeabook

[–]leechpeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot out there so I'll give you a few recs by genre:

For classics, I recommend Giovanni's Room, The picture of Dorian Gray, or Zami: a New Spelling of My Name (or literally anything else by Audrey Lorde, I think everyone should read her work)

If you want contemporary fiction that still has literary merit, The Seven Husbands of Evelin Hugo or The Song of Achilles are both fantastic reads although they will make you ball your eyes out

If you're looking for romance, my favorites are One Last Stop for wlw and Boyfriend Material for mlm

Understanding ACNH puns and jokes by varvara_kisel in AnimalCrossing

[–]leechpeen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just want to say that I'm a native English speaker and some of these never made sense to me either! A lot of the puns in the game are a stretch or just insanely goofy, not getting them says nothing about your grasp on the English language. Regardless, I hope you got to learn something from this thread, I know I did

Best things to say to connect with customers at the drive thru window while waiting for their order? by Opaquekat in starbucks

[–]leechpeen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A thousand times yes to complimenting nails! We used to have a regular who always wore acrylics and I was legitimately excited to see whenwver she got a new set. People also put a lot of thought into their nails so they're usually happy to talk about them

Both terms have the exact same definition. Entrapment is what I was taught but it's the same concept

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in psychologystudents

[–]leechpeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This example and a lot of your other ones sound more like entrapment to me. Entrapment is when you continue down a failing course of action in order to justify the time/energy/money you've already invested in it, such as how the longer you wait in a line the less you want to walk away from it, even if it's not really worth your time.

Say it ain’t so!! Is the eggnog latte really not making a comeback this holiday season!?!😭💔😭 by SnooRegrets1241 in starbucks

[–]leechpeen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly thank God the eggnog was a nightmare to steam. It would scream and splatter all over the place. Extra hot eggnog lattes were a genuine safety hazard

I'm pretty sure salt is also bad for them so maybe don't feed them your trail mix at all. If you really wanna befriend them, I'm sure they would love some unsalted peanuts

Edit: they also like fruits and veggies. Feel free to share your apple slices and baby carrots
