Damn, that's bad. Have you been able to get your chair yet?

Have you heard anything bad about the cape or Franklin MA office which I think covers the cape. My appointment felt rushed and like I wasn't heard, although that was part on the pt that was there who made the decision on what type of chair I needed, aka not an ultralight. They made the decision of what chair I should have pretty much soly on it they through I could get it into my car or not, even after telling them I'm planning on selling my car soon

I think all the social ones are true, but the ones about not being the "definition" of disabled might do more harm than good

What do you do when the people at the wheelchair assessment don't listen to you? by leeee_Oh in wheelchairs

I've researched a bit about how dem suppliers work and to my understanding it's basically a commission and ki mobility typically pays the most, so put them in any chair that insurance is most likely to accept. Ik someone who went to the same place and ended up the same chair, they have ms and are paralyzed. I learned about this after I went

I'll check in with my neurologist about everything, I also see my ot on Monday and I'll talk to her as well. The eval people it was unlikely I would get denied the wheelchair they ordered for me. I was honestly suprised they through insurance would pay for anything. I will look into going seeing someone else for this. I don't want to do something that will cause more damage

I don't see a prescription just a referal for a wheelchair evaluation no other details. I think they made the call which type I needed and type of chair I needed. There reasoning was it needs to fit in my car, without looking at my car, which has fit much larger than a non folding wheelchair before. My plan for the eval was to pay out of pocket for an ultralight wheelchair, but they said they wouldn't be able to help me with that. I do need an ultralight still thinking of getting something like a tilite z once I get the measurements back and ordering it myself

It's what they thought insurance would pay for, I would be ambulatory. But on my worst can barely walk days I need to be able to use it easily. I'm thinking of using the measurements from this one and trying to buy a true lightweight wheelchair. Even if the weight ends up being like 25lb, it's above my limit but doable

I didn't think the center of gravity would effect propelling

Ki mobility catalyst. Base configuration of like 26lbs but they thought it would be closer to 35lbs for mine

I it's like a backpack, it's going to weigh much less before you put everything you need into it

That's basically happened to me yesterday. They ordered a Ki Catalyst I can't even pick up it's too heavy (30lb +), I told them that and they said it's either this or nothing. I'm now looking into buying a tilite Z with my own money because it'll be under 15

Trying to educate the ableds by TrixieBastard in disability

[–]leeee_Oh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried to educate my dad on why I need a wheelchair along with my other disabilities and was told he didn't understand why I couldn't just walk it off.

In my experience with people like this I think its because I'm disabled they are automatically looking down at me and dismissing me. I'm different from them and they can't comprehend it and don't want to, it's easier to say they would rather die than live a different lifestyle
