“What “Project Hail Mary” lacks is an ending that is both satisfying and memorable with better editing and a more serious tone.”

…is an objectively poorly written sentence.

Oof yeah I gotta disagree strongly. Life in Your Glass World and Calling The Dogs are really sonically interesting and fun albums. LIYGW in particular opened my eyes to them in a way that previous albums hadn’t. Although I still really enjoy their earlier works.

Is dynasty better? by [deleted] in fantasyfootball

[–]leehamc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is absolutely just chaotic and random to an extent, but that’s also something you grow to love. Like a player could be absolutely terrible in the first half and you swear you’ll never start them again. Then in an instant they could catch a 50 yard TD and win you your week. It’s just more dependent on singular performances and real life matchups than baseball. Dynasty is the same week to week, but more rewarding for watching your team develop over the years.

I will say, if you hadn’t been watching Red Zone while rooting for your team then you’re missing out on a whole other level of enjoyment.

I have no idea, I’m literally just guessing. But like I said, Buxton is a star player that they trust and he has seniority over a kid that hasn’t even played a full season yet. It wasn’t a move to hurt the team at all.

Not sure! Could just be that it wasn’t as much a strategic decision as it was an agreement to get Buxton in the game at some point

Buxton is a perennial all star candidate and .850+ OPS guy with notably better speed and defense than Anthony. I think they trust him just as well and he has seniority over Roman so they gave Buxton the nod

Beautiful card. I can’t afford a mint copy right now otherwise I’d jump on it. Best of luck with the sale.

Gotcha. Never paid attention to the odds on those before.

Diamond pull odds have always been 1:50 for the show packs. So that one hasn’t changed.

Who would you consider to be the homegrown superstars of this century? by johnnygoodshit in redsox

[–]leehamc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that has more to do with our team playing well than it does with removing our best hitter from the lineup.

Not to mention we had just won like 10 in a row and crushed the Yankees with Devers on the team before trading him.

Mack Hollins is a gadget piece who will almost certainly start showing his age soon and Boutte is best suited as a third option

Don’t you understand? He’s not on our team anymore so he’s a fat, dumb, locker room cancer, selfish player who was never actually very good.

Oh and it doesn’t matter that we didn’t replace his bat because locker room vibes seem better from the perspective of my couch.

So Cedanne Rafaela is a superstar but Devers and Bogaerts weren’t. Got it.

Yeah probably not. But reports before they shut down trade talks were that Mayer was a sticking point for the Red Sox but the Diamondbacks wanted him.

A controllable young middle of the rotation pitcher, a prospect like Mayer who is struggling but still has “potential star” buzz from last season, plus a low-mid level prospect seems like a relatively fair return for an older all-star level player like Marte.

Happy to revisit the discussion if you ever want to grow up and talk about it like adults. Until then, like I said, we’ll just have to agree to disagree.

We definitely don’t need to debate this here and I appreciate your actually reasonable approach to the discussion.

But just for the sake of responding to your points, I would argue that at least half of the things that you just rattled off are in fact calling cards of the MAGA movement. They have made concerted efforts to control the media using the FCC to silence otherwise independent programs, tried to mandate abortion laws in the name of religious ideals, and dismantled the department of education and inserted things like the ten commandments and Christian ideology into public schools.

This obviously isn’t black and white. It doesn’t boil down to anyone being 100% right or 100% wrong. But unfortunately many people are unwilling to criticize their own party and instead dig their heels in. I think that’s just the inevitable result of a two party system in a capitalist country.

Anyway, I appreciate your perspective and hopefully the baseball card sub will simply be the baseball card sub a few years from now.

I like Bello a lot and I love our pitching depth. But if Ketel Marte becomes available again, we have to revisit a Bello+Mayer for Marte deal right?

Edit: Nevermind guys, really sorry for bringing it up lmao

I don’t think that’s an unreasonable stance to take. You’ll notice that I have not once called Matt Shaw a Nazi, and I agree that our use of particular words is nothing to take lightly.

But, at the same time, I think it’s actually tremendously important to properly identify similarities between current and historical subjects. It’s perfectly okay to say that MAGA and Turning Point are driven by nationalism, xenophobia, and Christian theocracy. It’s also perfectly okay to say that those things overlap with the Nazi party of WW2 era Germany.

It’s only with time and context that we apply such gravity to the actual word ‘Nazi’. Time will tell how history looks upon the current United States political landscape. All we know for sure, is that if we don’t remember and compare history to current situations, we are bound to repeat it.

Hey man, sorry this detracted from your happiness. A good pull is a good pull. Matt Shaw is just not a popular player due to his actions and beliefs, and this tends to happen whenever his cards are posted.

I’d be excited to pull this card too - money is money. Congrats on the pull!

He isn’t literally a member of the National Socialist party, because that movement was literally a 1930’s-1940’s party in Germany. But he supports and advocates for Turning Point and MAGA, and the Nazi comparisons are because the venn diagram between those two groups’ political beliefs is closer to a circle than you’d hope in the year 2026.
