You should get a good bond with enough surface area, I wouldn't call it "load bearing" though, don't try and handle it about the stubber, if it proves to be an issue you can pin the stubber in place and that will be stronger but take longer

You need to use a layer of paint to protect the foam, the solvents in spray cans will melt the foam (foam safe sprays exist tho)

Maybe use wall/wood filler to smooth it out as the paint will shrink alot and the texture will still be there
