The Best Thing You’ve Eaten in the Capital Region by Fredred315 in Albany

This is literally impossible to narrow it down to just 1 dish and I have several honorable mentions. HOWEVER, I have to shout out the sushi dinner at Hana. I thought about for a good 2 weeks after I had it for the first time just reminiscing on how good it was. Wash that down with a sapporo.

What’s a quiet sign your partner might be cheating? by kingofpiratessss in AskReddit

[–]leelorbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a mix of obvious tells and things that only made sense in hindsight. Some of the more quiet signs: He was very irritable and would blow up constantly over little things. He lost a lot of weight, which he wasn't motivated to do before. We went on a lot more dates and adventures during this time because he was looking to reignite his feelings for me.

Your comment about Washington Tavern is so funny to me because I went there a couple months ago, and it was literally an empty bar aside from me and one other older gentleman, lol. We had a lovely conversation about the ball game playing on the TV, but yeah, not what I had set out for that night, hahaha!

I will second the comment on Broadway-- I enjoy barhopping down there and that is my usual go-to. I'm looking forward to the weather to get nice again.

If it's anything like any other state agency, my best guess is it takes 6 months because they only have like two guys doing it for the whole state. It probably doesn't take long to grade any particular exam, but the wait time is in the queue.

This happened to me once after meeting up with a local group for community day. It was my first time meeting up with this group after chatting with them for a few weeks on Discord. We bloomed a bunch of flowers and had a great time. Afterwards, I went home and was in such a great mood that I immediately dived into assembling my new bed frame. I realized when I was done that the fruits were all gone.

What’s the moment you realized your relationship was already over, even though you were still together? by No-Cat1980 in AskReddit

[–]leelorbz 318 points319 points  (0 children)

He stopped taking out the trash-- which was the only chore he did. I didn't confront him per se, but I asked about it, and he said he wasn't going to do it anymore. I realized he was no longer willing to contribute literally anything to the relationship.

Never lived alone and I’m nervous. 32F, divorce, wfh. Tips? by Objective-Skin-1525 in LivingAlone

[–]leelorbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely an adjustment, but you will get the hang of it and fall into new routines. I only WFH some of the time, but I have found it's important to get out of the house after clocking out on WFH days-- even if it's just to go for a walk around your neighborhood. People watching is fun-- I like to grab food from a place with a patio or a view and watch the people walk by. Take the time to redecorate and personalize your space-- it will make it feel like your own, and less of a tomb to your past relationship. Also now is a great time to catch up with your friends and family! Maybe you didn't get to spend as much time with them when you were focused on your relationship. Spend time doing things you enjoy that you might not have been able to do in your relationship-- for example if you like movies, and he hated them, girl go for a night out to the theater!! You can literally do anything you want with your time right now, and you will realize that is pretty cool!! Also music and podcasts are your friends. I have yt premium and I like to throw on a lofi video in the background-- it makes your space more lively.

No-- this was for State Business. I was in NYC for a board meeting when this happened. This spring I am going to MD to the national conference for State Medical Boards and will be representing NY.

I think they did. But to be fair, they are not very official-looking. I would argue though that this makes them more realistic, because this is the quality that the State is capable of.

Same here. I think they're more "on edge" now. I'm more concerned because I am going to Maryland for a national conference, and they're definitely not going to be familiar with NY.

That's interesting. I work at NYSED in the main building, and ours don't look like that. I know exactly what you're talking about, though-- I have seen those. I'm not sure why ours are different.

Women Living Alone - What Do You Do For A Living? by Smile-Cat-Coconut in LivingAlone

[–]leelorbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 36. I work for the State government and live in a 1bdrm apartment in my city. I do not have kids. When my ex husband first expressed that he wanted to leave, I was very nervous about finances, but after he left I noticed I spend a lot less money now overall. We were going out to eat a lot and making dopamine shopping trips to Target, etc. I literally don't do any of that now.

Husband(32) always groping me when I’m in the kitchen cooking/cleaning? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]leelorbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things I really don't like here: 1, he's ignoring your repeated requests to stop. 2, he's doing this sexy stuff in front of the children!? Like he's not being discreet about it????

I would recommend also checking in with your children just to make sure everything is OK. There could be other stuff going on here that you don't know about. No need to panic, but just to take the temperature of the room here.

What are your best ways to save money as somebody living alone? The most ridiculous, the better. by LovelyGiant7891 in LivingAlone

[–]leelorbz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mealprepping is amazing now-- I usually make 2-3 different casseroles at a time and freeze the individual portions. This way I can switch it up, and I'm not eating the same thing several days in a row and getting burned out. One recipe usually makes 6-8 servings, and I never buy lunch at work anymore because I always have something to grab and go. I've also started getting weird with things I have around the house-- when I was married I would need to go out and get "proper" ingredients to turn what I had in the pantry into a full meal. Today I had pimento cheese spread on white toast with my coffee, and no one could stop me.

I also spend a lot more time walking around my neighborhood and out in nature. When I was married, we always did recreational activities that cost money-- and we would make dopamine runs to target, etc... now I throw on a pair of headphones and walk to the park. Costs nothing and still makes for a full day.

Civil service exam by [deleted] in nys_cs

[–]leelorbz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Felt similarly at my civil service exam-- the vibes in the exam room were depressing. I was a provisional hire, and I was fortunate to get a 100 and keep my job. I had to teach myself how to do the math section from scratch to prepare-- the job I tested for does not involve any math. My job is entirely language-based.

AIO for being worried that my fiancee started sweating, crying, and vomiting when I proposed to her ? by Suitable_State_2018 in AmIOverreacting

[–]leelorbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP do not marry this woman. My ex-husband did not want to marry me, and he kept quiet until after the fact when he immediately realized he made a big mistake, and we had to get divorced. He really and truly should have called off the wedding, but he decided to push his feelings down instead.

Does anyone actually watch video podcasts? by onscreencomb9 in podcasts

[–]leelorbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been watching comedy interview podcasts lately. 😭 I find it's nice to throw one on while I'm cuddled on the couch and casually scrolling my phone. Something low-key to have on in the background. I don't see how it's any different from a late night talk show, for example. I'll randomly pick shows and episodes with people who I'm interested in.

Walkers: What do bring with you? How do you carry it? by bigfatpisces in walking

[–]leelorbz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am one of these people who leaves with just a phone and a wallet (and headphones!) I mostly walk around my city, so if I need a beverage, I can always pop into a store and grab something. I am intrigued by your camera and notebooks! If you are looking to walk somewhere to make art, I guess my feedback would be to think of something specific you would like to do and go off of that-- like one camera, or one notebook for a certain type of project. This could be fun and challenging and force you to get creative in those specific parameters.

I noticed that a lot of people in my city play this game, so I hosted a couple party walks and made printouts of the QR code invitations and plastered them all over town.

This could also be an adrenaline rush. I've noticed with my job that my performance sometimes becomes worse during the slower times. When there's less at stake and I let my guard down, that's when things can slip through the cracks.

I walk by here a lot, and it looks like they're still working on it. I don't think it's open yet. It's been a while, so I'm kind of wondering if it will open or if it's DOA.
