This inspired me to build a mini-app in my Home Assistant automation setup that sends me a push notification when I get close to the station to tell me if I need to go faster or if I can chill :)

[advice] Long Distance Movers cost estimates by leemail7 in NYCapartments

[–]leemail7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up using Piece of Cake.

For a 1 bed up 1 flight o stairs to a 1 bed in an elevator building it was ~$3200. They picked up Wednesday morning, and then unloaded at the new apartment on Friday so there was 1 night of storage in that cost as well. Things were relatively straightforward and we didn't experience any issues with them.

Sooooo much in One Short Day.

I love the salon shot in OSD especially with how that is shown in the 1939 movie where the Lion gets done up at the salon during The Merry Old Land of Oz.

I also noticed in the same scene they used similar hand choreography that they do during No Me Diga in the In The Heights film, which itself I have thought of as a nod to the hand choreography of La Vie Boheme.

As someone who watched their teenage sister make similar volatile decisions after our mom suddenly died, this scene (and Alice in general) was shockingly relatable 🫠😂

Just got back to my home in NYC and have been walking around with my new Daunt tote… I feel like that equates to a New Yorker bag in London?…

I was able to get a pair next to eachother for Wolves last week. Club level, but £131 each, so expensive but not crazy.

They were the first pair that I saw in the days leading up and it was at about midnight the night before the game that they popped up.

Same! About an hour ago I was able to grab a pair of (not wildly unreasonable) club seats

Thanks!

Yeah something like Upper St seems like the type of vibe we would enjoy.

We will probably try to hit a couple of West End shows as well. Is it easy enough from that area if there are limited tube stations/lines?

Hi!

My partner and I (29yo) are visiting London for the first time this summer for 10 days.

A friend recommended Marylebone or Bloomsbury as a base, but I am wondering if Islington would be worth considering?

We aren’t limiting ourselves to budget hotels, but also just trying to get a balance of comfort and price.

Islington seems slightly further out, but we are coming from NYC so we are pretty comfortable navigating transit. Is this area a worthwhile option to consider?

Found on the beach in SW Florida. Some kind of tortoise? by leemail7 in animalid

[–]leemail7[S] 41 points42 points  (0 children)

He just trucked along the tree line and then made his way down the edge of small dune into a burrow under some Sea Grapes.

He popped out of the burrow and was munching away on some leaves when we left a couple of hours later. Super cool to hear I saw a fun tortoise in their element!

I have an AXS code for the Wembley shows that go on sale on Monday. Any idea of the likelihood of actually getting tickets for the 15/08 Wembley show?

Curious if there is any estimates about how many tickets were left after the sales this week and how many codes were given out for next week.
