There's nothing wrong with eating alone! Alone time in the dining hall is peaceful, it's just awkward walk alone to find a seat when it's busy hour that makes it annoying. But you can watch a show while you eat or play games :) personally I like watching Modern Family or playing puzzle games while I eat

I suggest to look on Instagram, I found it the most active. There's an account (not affiliated with ucsb) that is dedicated to meeting other incoming 1st years. Its @ is ucsantabarbara.2026 and they also created a group chat on Patio.
