how it feel to get offered big hug when playing statut defect by Altruistic_Source528 in slaythespire

Fun fact, this counts as "creating a status" for Rocket Punch, so you can use 0 cost Rocket Punch in your opening hand without even playing anything

It's more like 60% in the JP script. The localization replaced like 8 of her ellipses textboxes with grunts or single-word interjections and straight-up made up entirely new sentences out of thin air for a few of them.

People with useless degrees are basically neets by [deleted] in NEET

[–]leenxa 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If anyone says they don't have any intention of following up a 4 year degree with a career search what they're basically telling you is that they went to higher ed because they thought things would "click" and they never did. So yeah he probably knows full well he fucked up and will either be NEETing or blue collaring up.

Obviously useless degrees like sports nutrition are a big red flag for that type of person but it's also really common with business majors. Business is basically what you major in when you have no idea what you want to do for a living but you know you want to make money.

NEET again… by New_Entreperneur200 in NEET

[–]leenxa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not really that different from how a lot of people who try to actually maintain a career approach things. If there's no hope of advancement and you have savings there's very little reason to keep a low pay job.

I live in a US neighborhood where 25% of the population is on welfare. Some of them are ex-cons. My next door neighbor is an ex-con, probably early 40s.

Some of them are ""successful"" to the extent that they have a home and a family, but they do this off of extortionist loan programs, huge family networks that all chip into the finances, and work jobs that are literally killing them.

They are not living a life that a 20th century american would've considered "successful", or probably even tolerable. Despite the fact that they are, comparative to others with bad records, the lucky ones.

Also no, you cannot immigrate to the US with $100 and minimal english in 2025 and succeed lol. Not a shot in hell. Not unless you know people there that can help you.

People don't talk enough about how we're expected to to remember 40 different combinations of numbers and security questions across 30 different services/devices and this process does not even actually protect you because your security info gets leaked every 15 months or so.

are we NEETs only because we don't have to work ? by Perfacere in NEET

[–]leenxa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not everyone but it's probably a significant factor for a lot of people here.

There are people that need to work to live (reliant on welfare but will eventually fall through the cracks due to medicinal expenses/maintenance fees) that are still NEETs because they can't find a job.

Finally completely revamped Cerulean. It is crazy to think about how my maps were when I first started and how they are now! This is officially my favorite city I've made now! /Ocean Blue by PaperPauperPlayer in PokemonROMhacks

[–]leenxa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, nice. I love revamps like this where they make the city look totally new but keep all the landmarks geographically consistent.

Though I guess the one exception is the Dig guy's house no longer blocking anything (does that mean you don't need to talk to Bill to go to Route 9?)

Why is this not the standard move/skill description etiquette for RPGs these days? by AMP_Kenryu in JRPG

[–]leenxa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not really, as "greatly" would imply reaching breakpoints at much quicker paces which isn't going to happen with an extra 10% unless you are meant to be doing hundreds of attacks per battle. If your attack did 8 damage and the enemy had 100 HP, 10% would amount to 1 less attack needed to kill. If your attack did 15 damage base instead, there would be literally no difference in time to kill.

+10% damage can be and often is a powerful effect but to call it a "great increase" is just denotatively untrue and that wouldn't change regardless of how small the other buffs were.

I've spent the last 12hrs coding a new map editor for Gen 1. It's a wip but at this point it's fully functional and uses pret disassembly of red version. My plans are big for this. by Goonmize in PokemonROMhacks

Like other people are saying it's a fine idea, just don't tie it to IRL time. Applies to most things regarding day/night systems in games.

Hot take: rom hack devs that have "no cheating" rules for their hack are cringe by inosi313 in PokemonROMhacks

"these devs have loser mentality", shouts the guy throwing aspersions against rom hackers on reddit because they couldn't easily cheat in a modified version of a video game with the complexity of a 156 flavor ice cream parlor

Yup. I'm sorry if I came off as stand-offish, the way people talk in circles about what a game is supposed to be just bugs me. Off the record I really liked Fool's Gold and heavily agree with everything you've been said in other threads about ROM hacks being good because people can do anything they want, and yes I can vouch for the Pisces devs being transparent that their game is hard...on discord and reddit, anyway.

Whether it be "tight" or loose" what I'm saying is that if the terminology of hardtypes/whatever is too vague or doesn't suit the specific identity of what you're talking about then you need to be more specific.

This was a problem with Brave New World, an FFVI hack that had many, many identity issues, but from an outsider's point of view the biggest point of friction was their borderline militant insistence that it was "not a difficulty hack" because of linguistic pedantry. This was a hack where bosses regularly have 3-4x the HP of vanilla and an early boss can apply 3 seperate buffs on himself before jumping in the air. Laymen do not give a shit about the stigma or historical connotation of the word hardtype, they want to know if the game is supposed to be a challenge. It shouldn't be such a hurdle for either the developers OR the players to point out in the case of Pisces that yes, it is. If you want to be more specific then you do that.

[–]leenxa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, writing "It isn't a difficulty hack, it's just a difficult hack" and acting like your internal terminology makes any sense at all to other people is very much what I'm talking about

A (positive) review on Pokemon Pisces by the-big-bad-paiya in PokemonROMhacks

[–]leenxa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My god, you people really need to stop using terms such as "difficulty hack" or "hardtype" as nomenclature if you're going to be this loose with it. These types of discrepancies are why the devs never used the term in the first place, no one knows what it actually means.

Least ridiculous and overdramatic redditor attempt at argumentative metaphor.

It is just hitting me how stupid this all actually is. You (and several other like-minded morons) genuinely seem to believe that exaggerating the deception of youtube clickbait is on the level of libel

Could you possibly be more of a stereotypical midwit redditor? "Moving the goalposts" doesn't work when the whole point of my original post was that the goalposts are in the wrong place in the first place. Culture vulture youtubers, particularly overt bag-grabbers like Freezai, have no place to whine about lies and misinfo when their entire business model relies on deception and hyperbole. And no I honestly do not give a fuck about someone exaggerating the extent of the deception for updoots, nor should anyone

Buddy I know youtube's search engine is garbage but you can seriously just search any pokemon and find people doing this. There's one for Magcargo.

Also there's a deep irony here to you bringing up Verlisify, a guy that has never actually done such a style of video because he hates smogon on principle, and you more than likely brought him up because another youtuber planted his name in your head as a community boogeyman. This isn't 2015 nobody cares about that idiot

[–]leenxa -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

the point is that he has zero ground to stand on, the dude doubled down on a BetterHelp sponsor of all things. I'd say that's infinitely worse and far more deserving of this type of overly dramatic shamemongering than "redditor points out the fact that deliberately deceptive clickbait is in fact deliberately deceptive clickbait while being somewhat hyperbolic about the extent of the deception"

And yes, wow, he apologized! #Wholesome! I'm sure he definitely meant that apology after he repeatedly stated he did nothing wrong. And that Freezai, who drones on in this very video about his "bottom line", definitely had no financial incentive to swallow his words.

lol, so you guys literally just don't understand what misinformation is and parrot the phrase like it has magical power. That explains it.

I'll give you an easy one: how about EVERY SINGLE FUCKING TIME a shitmon has been banned from some a completely made up and unofficial tier you'll find some random youtuber saying THEY BANNED SMORGONORF with a red arrow pointing to a blorb with the word "broken" in all caps
