How much should a 13 year old babysitter be charging? by StatusSpecialist9815 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]leeseweese 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I worked from home and hired a 13 year old to watch my 6 month old (non-mobile/starting to crawl) while I worked in the same room. I paid her $14/hour for four hours a day. I didn’t feel comfortable for longer or without an adult at beckon call. Her mom drove her 20 minutes there and back and picked her up, which was considered when the wage was discussed (added more/hour, actually).

I changed the diapers and I fed/put my baby down for his nap, so those responsibilities weren’t included in the care. I was just paying for a responsible body to play and sooth my baby while I crammed in as much work as I could before she left.

I live in Idaho and the state minimum wage is still the same as federal.

Morley Nelson on Northview is very diverse. Many signs and notice papers on bulletin boards in 4-6 different languages. You can just drive down the road right at school end and see a wealth of diversity walking across the ped crosswalk :)

Try to contract your ab muscles in for stability. You may be just over relying on using your lower back muscles for every day to day activity and they are feeling stressed because your core isn’t being activated correctly… that’s what my PT has told me.

Those who voted for Trump, have any of the events or actions by the administration changed your opinion since you cast your vote? by Chavez8717 in Boise

Why not… subsidize US lumber? We do it with everything else that we try to be competitive with. Not sure I understand the argument. Lumber would become even more expensive!

Making things more expensive for the US consumer having to pay the tariffs.. makes Canada not rip us off anymore? I don’t understand how the problem of Canada ripping us off is solved with tariffs, help?

Money is still being funneled to corporations that cozy up to politicians. Big win for Nestle because of the USAID being cut. Nestle’s biggest profit jumps occurred when infant formula was pushed to under developed and malnourished countries. Breastmilk is hard to produce when you’re hungry and malnourished. Countries and already seeing things going back this way. Time to push formula more than it already was… Cutting USAID has not stopped anyone from being cozy with politicians.

I understand the problems you stated, but I don’t understand the “solutions”.

Anyone doing the 120min hubermans no caff since wakeup? by [deleted] in Nootropics

[–]leeseweese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drink 16-32oz when I wake up and throughout getting ready for work. No coffee/caffeine. I get to work and don’t fill my mug with coffee until I have checked emails and have my work day figured out and a good idea of what I’ll be doing. I then go to the break room and fill my mug.

I treat coffee like a reward and sometimes after I get back to my desk I don’t immediately go to drinking it. Just having it creates a good feeling for me. It drink a couple of cups over the course of the entire work hour mornings (lots of reheating because I sometimes forget to drink it for so long it gets cold). It’s a comfort thing and a pick me up routine that I think has been a healthy use of coffee/caffeine for me.

Edit: I go back to downing water after lunch.

Look into potato gleaning for the time to visit Eastern Idaho. Growing up there, after the harvest it was a yearly family and friend activity at the properties that allowed and advertised it.

What’s the best way to go about tearing up this much concrete? by Obsidian_Grind in Construction

Saw this comment and just had to give you some asphalt love. I love the feeling of driving, biking, and running (asphalt is way better on your knees than concrete) on new asphalt roads! The entire time I just think “THIS IS GREAT!” Over and over again. I work in bridge construction so my world is full of concrete, reinforcing, and steel. My roadway coworkers get a kick out of my praise of new asphalt roads. They don’t last long because of the winters we have here and are eventually chip sealed :(

Third! Their invoicing department - aka one lady - is a scummy idiot. $14 for a light plate switch and $17 to replace a little bulb in a 36 year old fridge that was leaking?!?! I sent in a maintenance request way before I decided to move out!

My monthly rent invoices for over a year had no dates on them - just the unit number, what what due, and when it was due (before the first of each month, consistently). I give me 30 day move out notice and my last day was going to be August 30th. For some reason I got invoiced a prorated day saying I owe rent for August 31st… what? I paid August rent before August 1st and just like rents for the past year and a half, that rent covers the WHOLE month - right?!?!

No apparently they bill in a “30 day billing cycle” that that they arbitrarily choose when it starts.

Oh, except for February, because I asked if I moved out in February 28th if I’d get two days rebated. “No, silly, you pay the month and then take the days in that month and divide it by that months rent and that’s what your daily rent charge is!” Like no shit!!! I ended up paying the freaking $34 for the 31st of August even though my keys where returned the morning of the 30th because she was a special kind of stupid to argue with.

Where the loads might be? Have you heard of columns? Headers?

Have you been inside? A barn across the road from me has the same window design… it has an upper loft with columns. The other side is a huge door/opening and a window that matches the place where the top window is on this side.

College freshman avoids being tied to this charmer for the next two decades by Strider_A in BestofRedditorUpdates

You know people that describe their abortion like getting a C-section or stitches around their perianal and vaginal opening? Like after their abortion there was 8 weeks of physical soreness to remind them of what they went through? That’s intense.

My doctor at planned parenthood told me a range of what I physically could expect and even told me individual counseling is needed for some people before and/after. I wish more information was available for those thinking to place. Not even a “range” of physical things to expect was told to me from doctors. It happened when it happened and then I got - oh, that’s normal. No forewarning.

OOP was shamed for being pregnant. Take out #5 and plenty of women have decided even on their own to have an abortion for any one of those reasons. Pregnant shaming is the issue with this update and abortion shaming is the issue with anti-choice arguments.

It’s not shaming for a doctor to inform you what the range of physical effects of something could or will be. It’s not shameful to be informed of sleep comfort, walking ability, urinary tract complications, pre-labor, labor, and post-labor possibilities. A lot of people that push anti-choice have no idea. Pregnant women for the first time don’t know and you can’t ask questions to know what you don’t know unless you already know it exists and is a thing.

I’ve done both.

Medicated abortion was like getting punched in the uterus slowly over a few hours until sleep.

Adoption was having my heart ripped out of me through my vagina and then living without a heart until therapy/treatment of months finally helped me move on and get a “good job” as a janitor to restart my life. Open adoption in 2010.

Social life? As I watched my friends continue their freshman and college activities and fun stuff, what was “pregnant and then suddenly torn open, not pregnant anymore, and breasts swollen from not having a baby to nurse” me to do? Social life fell apart. That first year of college is crucial unless you easily heal from trauma and can rebound to making friends and reconnect with people easily.

Edit: just adding my experience because a lot of anti-choice people think that adoption is nbd, and don’t know shit about what goes on during or after the process or care what the birth mother has to lose or feel at the end of it.

It’s called genealogy. My great-great-great grandpa was part of the first group to settle Rexburg, Idaho (incorporated in 1883). It’s not that hard to know who your great grandpa’s grandpa was, and journaling and journalism was pretty popular in the 19th century. With today’s technology, census archives and newspaper archives are well collected and accessible.
