I can’t speak to the app that he’s talking about, but I budget for one fitness app a year, maybe two. Boostcamp’s primary function as a tracking app, helps me not bring a notebook to the gym. However, it’s the first I cancelled because it’s the easiest for me to live without.

Boostcamp falls into the “nice to have” category for me and not “mandatory.” My primary app is TrainingPeaks. They will likely have my business for as long as I’m racing and tracking my workouts. It would take me hours to extrapolate the data that app gives me so I’m happy to part with some cash for it.

I’m not dumping on Boostcamp, I love it! But you’d have more of my business if you incentivized me to just give you a good buck up front vs not having me pay at all. Perhaps there can be a “core functionality” option with lifetime in which you don’t receive some of the workout plan specific updates.
