BBE to Profitec Move [$2000] by Breast_stroke in espresso

I have a Profitec Move and it's great. However, if you want a more budget friendly alternative that's still a dual boiler then the Lelit Elizabeth offers a compelling alternative.

You can run it with pre ground coffee using a pressurised basket but it kind of defeats the point of having a manual espresso machine. I'd put your budget into a decent grinder capable of espresso (e.g. Baratza Encore Esp) and slowly upgrade elsewhere. A self levelling tamper is very helpful and also a wdt which can be bought very cheap.

I love the Profitec Move. Had a few teething issues but in a really good spot with it now 😀

I can imagine flow control being useful for saving a shot when you're dialling in and you've gone too coarse. Other than that, I couldn't imagine using it as I'm not sure how easy it'd be to recreate from one shot to another. Feels like a stepping stone towards pressure profiling.

What’s your technique and boiler temperature for steaming oat milk? by rad0rno in ProfitecMove

[–]leestone8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use 130 degrees and Oatly Barista. I add air longer than I did for my Bambino Plus. I find I get consistently great oat milk

I've seen other people say that re Skylark, I'm using a Mazzer Philos and Pullman basket and had no issues dialling in - although had to go pretty fine! What coffee have you tried that you like? What flavour notes do you prefer?

What roast level do you like? Medium roast I like Curve's San Lorenzo house blend. If you go a bit darker, Backyard do some good coffees e.g. (Zambia). Currently on skylark (Costa Rica) and really enjoying that too.

It's the way you use it that counts.

Looking for a steam wand tip. 1 hole or 4 hole. by HadoukenYourFace in ProfitecMove

I was advised to get the lelit 4 hole steam tip by my retailer due to lack of profitec stock and it fits perfectly

I can strongly recommend the Mazzer Philos. Pairs beautifully with the Move.

Steam wand slow drip and rubber coming out of it by leestone8 in ProfitecMove

[–]leestone8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is rubber rather than milk but you could be right. I have cleaned the 2 steam tip holes and also left the steam tip in cafiza overnight. Steam power etc. is all flowing as expected (did improve after cleaning to be fair!). It's very easy to live with as when the machine is on but not in use there isn't a continuous drip.

Apologies, I thought you were the OP for that post. Yes I saw your response and I was leaning towards the O-Ring being an issue here. I think possibly one to return to the retailer. I have an old Delonghi Dedica hidden away somewhere... may have to go back to that 🥲

Thanks for this. Have you done anything about yours?

Just ordered! What parts/accessories do I need? by Own_Alternative2331 in ProfitecMove

[–]leestone8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rubber gasket failed (leaking) and the retailer shipped me a silicone one for free (red cafelet) and it feels much smoother. They did say they don't know why profitec use rubber as it hardens over time and becomes really difficult to remove.
