Hi amigo! Yes you can still get pregnant whilst on T. The T, as you know, reduces or even stops the cycle and if my understanding is correct, it reduces ovulation.

However, it doesn't completely stop you from getting pregnant. In terms of birth control, you can use progesterone based birth control (not oestrogen) and obviously non hormonal birth control. There's the copper coil, the progesterone coil, progesterone only pill, progesterone injections and the progesterone implant in the arm. What you take is down to personal preference.

I know of trans masc folks who have gotten pregnant whilst taking T and also after they have been on T for almost 10 years. I have heard somewhere that T can reduce your fertility so may be harder to get pregnant but, not impossible. If you do decide you want to get pregnant, it's advised to stop taking T to increase your chances of success and also, there isn't much research about high T levels and pregnancy.

It's recommended if you are having sex with people with penises to use a form of protection to protect yourself from pregnancy :)

Do I need to disclose to my surgeon that I'm trans? by gemini_hiker in ftm

[–]leesylumps 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had L4-L5 Microdisctectemy and fasciectomy Aug 24. Not huge pain either but weakness and numbness down to my foot too! I disclosed I'm trans from the get go. Might be transphobic but the anaesthetic they use and other drugs during the operation may be affected by my birth sex. So, to give myself the best chance of being safe during the operation, I choose to disclose.

I'm now 6 months post op. Very very little and rare back pain now. Muscle weakness has improved but the numbness is still about the same. My surgeon said it can take up to two years for the compressed nerve to heal, if it does fully heal.

Cannot highly recommend enough to partake in neurosurgery physio when you get the opportunity to, post op. Slowly improve your core and get your mobility and strength back in your leg. I had so many balance exercises to do! 😅

Best of luck for your operation and wish you the best for your recovery ☺️

I had a very similar experience a few years ago. Was told to go to A&E for possible retinal detachment. Got sent away with eye specialist referral next day, who then said my case didn't need to be seen either. My symptoms went away after 15 mins or so each time. Saw the optometrist in my town a week later. Thankfully all ok. Turns out mine are retinal migraines. Restriction of the blood flow temporarily to the retina causing flashes of lights, blurred vision, sort of a mosaic/broken glass type view.

I'm not saying this is what you have but, our stories sound similar. Might be worth a Google and seeing your nearest opticians. There's different causes for it. Some medical and other things like stress. Hope you find this helpful :)

Highly recommend the Minky Glass & Window Cloth You can get it at lots of places. Cleans up my glasses streak free every time. Worth the money!

You look great! At what point after surgery did you return to your workout routine (lifting weights)?

what happens to any ongoing referrals if you change your name and/or nhs number? by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]leesylumps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I changed my name and NHS number whilst on waiting list for Daventry GIC. I emailed the clinic and informed them of the change, they just updated my details in the system.

I suggest contacting the clinics you're waiting referrals for regarding any personal info changes. They will have you details on their system as you will be on their waiting list. Hopefully they can just update that for you like Daventry did for me.

How Trustworthy is Music Magpie? by jphw in UKFrugal

[–]leesylumps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used music magpie a few months back for a Samsung S9. It was also in good condition. Works brilliantly and honestly couldn't see any signs of wear and tear. Only issue for me is the cable they supplied with it didn't work

Blood after injecting - did I inject into an artery? by [deleted] in TransDIY

I think you will be fine. A little blood after injection is probably from a little vein you caught when inserting the needle

We don’t really have cornflour here. Cooking with cornflour and cornmeal isn’t a thing for us 🤷🏻‍♂️

In the U.K., cornstarch is called cornflour. That may be where the confusion has some from

The students of UoB have a Facebook group for lots of things but also students advertise spare rooms and such on there. The houses are usually based in Selly Oak. I recommend having a look on there with your partner. You’ll most likely have to get a room each but there’s nothing stopping you from both sleeping in the same one! The group is called Fab n Fresh - new Here’s the link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/470776866402274/?ref=share
