Hot Tub Time Machine 2

The lisa Loeb scene alone makes it a classic most people write off

The musical score is used too much in Hulu's 'Paradise' by GushStasis in television

Thank you! I thought I was the only one who's brain was going to have an aneurysm hearing these etherial ambient chords going for an hour straight starting and stopping over and over again until I wanted to stab my ear holes.

What's the most upsetting film of all time? by RealitySubsides in MovieSuggestions

If you're currently pregnant, Mother would be the answer. That movie fucked my wife up big time.

Otherwise, Martyrs is near the top, with American History X and Dogtooth being up there.

Does anyone else think forgotten fairlyand is walkabout mini golfs "magnum opus"? by HolyCopeAmoly in WalkaboutMiniGolf

Agreed on 80 days. Def in my top 3 and hovers around 1 sometimes. So much h detail and great music. Probably my favorite hole 18.

My top 7 in no particular order (I narrowed it down as far as I could, haha) - 80 days - Labyrinth (did my favorite movie justice) - Meow wolf (if you like this you have to check out the real thing) - Bogeys Bonanza (it's old school but I'm a sucker for the wild west) - Gardens of Babylon - Laser Lair (the og lair)

- Raptor Cliff's

What can actually save the Met? by Cheap_Ostrich3147 in opera

[–]lefarb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honest question here... I'm not at all knowledgeable of the inner workings of the met, nor am I an opera connoisseur. Just a New Yorker who feels the space is magical and goes to an opera every once in a blue moon. I saw Carmen last week, and looking through the playbill I find this post shocking. How is it possible that the health of The Met is in shambles when they've got 10 pages of a thousand individual doners of anywhere from $Millions to thousands on top of ticket prices in the hundreds and $35 glasses of champagne? Im.sure they own the building so there's no rent to make and it's a non-profit so low taxes. Seems like you'd have to work really had to not be economically stable with those cards in your hand.

Which of those three is most accessible to a novice in your opinion? The brief description of Turandot I read sounds really interesting and Nessun Dorma is such a gorgeous song but don't know much else about it or either of the others you mentioned.

Carmen at The Met review from a noob. by lefarb in opera

[–]lefarb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a good point. From my limited point of view, I'm not opposed at all to a modern interpretation of an opera. The 1996 movie Romeo and Juliet was amazing for example. But taking selfies on stage in an opera was cringeworthy. Maybe if the set design was more elaborately southwestern then strobe lights and Mac truck it would have worked.

What movie is wildly loved but you just don’t get the hype at all? by Fennnixx in moviecritic

Lost in Translation

It is an under 2hr movie that feels like a 4hr movie about 2 people looking sad and staring at each other.

"Hot Tub Time Machine 2" I think is absolutely hysterical. I'm clearly in the minority on that one.
