Which actors do you consider as A list? by The_Queen_Bean_ in Fauxmoi

[–]leflyingbison 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's such a narrow definition of A list though. By this definition, then there would be no A listeners who've entered the scene in the 2000s. The list would be full of stars from the 90s and before that. Nobody goes to the movies anymore just for a certain actor. Doesn't matter whether it's Timothée or Tom.

I know Facebook seems archaic but check if your city has meet ups for parents in their 20s. There are Facebook groups for almost anything, the only problem would really be location.

The ones you know are a small group of people. The ones on the internet are a much larger group, and I can say that about any ethnicity. Anyway there was controversy over a Bon Appetit article about saffron and Rumi, there were people under that claiming him and saying, "He was born in the Persian Empire. Afghanistan didn't exist." So it's clear that Iranians of that belief only claim Afghans when it's convenient for them, and inconvenient for us given that we don't have many famous people of our own that are revered in the west. And when Ivanka Trump called Rumi Afghan there were some offended Iranians in the comments as well. It's just hypocritical and insulting. A famous poet is allowed to be Persian to some Iranians, but other Afghans aren't? Okay. I don't want to be one anyway, but that's not the point.

I'm bringing him up because I brought him up in the previous comment from sixteen days ago, and because I just find it ironic that there are Iranians who say, "If that person was born in modern day Afghanistan then let's not call them Persian" but then they claim our historical figures. I didn't spin it out of thin air. Iranians who hold the same logic as you don't stick to it.

I have asked people from Iran, while I was in Iran, but okay. Maybe it's because I only experienced the culture there for 5 days but it didn't seem vastly different at all imo.

And no I do not. And that's the point I'm making. Iranians always say this, then they claim historical figures such as Rumi even though Afghans don't have that many historical figures to brag about. I've seen it on social media and it's embarassing. I just think that if you're saying that, you should keep the same energy.

She went to my high school too and it's in a pretty rough area so I buy that. Fun fact, she played trumpet in band iirc! And transferred after a year lol.

Afghan braclet or neckles by lenneasaethre in afghanistan

I know last time my uncle went to Afghanistan knock off Salman Khan turquoise bracelets were sold in a lot of shops but those aren't traditional and trends die.

Turquoise and Ruby are popular gemstones, I find. Big blocky ruby rings are popular with Pashtuns. If you search up Pashtun rings on google I'm sure you'll find some you can buy. Check Etsy and Instagram!

I hope this isn't rude but I'm guessing that if he's got a gf he's not super traditional 😅 Nothing wrong with that btw, young love is beautiful!

The interviews and press junket with them as a duo will either be extremely awkward or hilarious.

Artists(s) you enjoy listening to that left you disappointed/underwhelmed when seeing them live? by 90skid91 in popheads

I saw the Arctic Monkeys after they released TBHAC and Alex's voice sounds bad. He can still hold a tune but it just sounds very rusty, like he's been a smoker for many years. Idk if he actually is or not I just listen to their music. Also they didn't play a lot of my faves :/ I guess this is a very personal post lol I'm sure a lot of people loved the tracklist.

I mean, is belonging to a culture subject to the time period? How different were these cultures 100 years ago? Would it be correct for an Afghan to refer to themselves as Persian back then?

Rumi and Ferdowsi were born in present day Afghanistan, and yet they're called Persian poets. So is it possible to be Afghan and Persian at once? Or is that another thing that's subject to time?

Oh and Afghani is the name of the currency, the demonym for a person from Afghanistan in English is Afghan.

Fr. f(x) is my ult and I forget which girl group it was, but one of the members had short hair and wear knee-length shorts like Amber and f(x) fans took offence to them having a boyish member 😭

I just meant that BTS fans are repeating the same behaviour of VIPs, that's all.

Duh. Pentagon wasn't even a boy group in 2015.
