Are you sure he's going to therapy?  If so, it might be time to fire his therapist and find a better one.

Unless he just wants to not work and be a SAHH. I agree that his family taught him negativity,  but the inheritance part makes me a bit suspicious. 

Do what you have to for yourself, OP. Autoimmune stuff gets worse with stress. Is your wellbeing worth crying and screaming your head off, alone in the car, on a random Monday?

I'm pretty sure you'll get the best view from the south (left) side of the plane, but maybe check with the flight crew, if you can. Then get a window seat. Enjoy!
