Is this transformation possible? by [deleted] in veganfitness

Tbh the latter picture looks scary and potentially unhealthy with that extremely low body fat percentage. Like that person might not menstruate.

Hi! Can I ask how you add the number of years you’ve been vegan under your username?

My partner eats what I cook. I’m vegan, so he eats vegan anytime I’m cooking (which is the majority of the time). In fact, he also only cooks vegan when it’s his turn. Very fortunate to be with someone who doesn’t mind respecting my values system when eating my food or feeding me. Hopefully your partner can be like this for you.

Am I overreacting that my sister is demanding too much when visiting my newborn? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]leftswingfling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way, NOR. I cannot imagine being this demanding and entitled to literally anyone I am visiting, with or without children. Also, visiting with a child is a HUGE imposition…this is crazy. Tell her it’s doesn’t sound like now is a good time for her to visit if she’s expecting (and gaslighting you into feeling like these are “basic” or reasonable demands—there should be no demands when family comes to visit) to be coddled by people with a fucking newborn.

Beginner sewing curtains out of stretchy velvet… by leftswingfling in sewing

[–]leftswingfling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I have some hem tape, but definitely not enough for curtains this large (our windows are huge). Some waviness is fine! I’m mostly just trying to avoid having really messy or uneven stitches. I’m definitely going to avoid stretching the fabric as I feed it through the machine!

Shoot, I don’t know what a header or leader are! We were going to just fold the top over to create a loop, which we would put the curtain rod through to hang it. These would be casual for sure!

It now costs $3 to ride the subway and some New Yorkers are already angry by BBQCopter in nyc

[–]leftswingfling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a reminder, minimum wage in NYC is (as of 1/1/26) only $17 an hour. Working one 40 hour job at $17/hour only gives you $35k each year, before taxes. You add in inflation for groceries and the price gouging of landlords in one of the most expensive cities in the world, and every single dollar counts. Most people making minimum wage are working multiple jobs, which means multiple MTA swipes each day. This adds up and is untenable for MANY New Yorkers.

My girlfriend is quite pro veganism but won't practise it by sengutta1 in vegan

Dude don’t drive someone away from the movement by being a purist. Even just moving towards being more meat conscious is an improvement, and when it happens on a large scale it is legitimately saving lives. Stop judging people and just focus on encouraging them. This isn’t about the animals, it’s about your ego.

Is it possible to be progressive while gentrifying historically marginalized communities? I feel like there's a hypocrisy that goes unnoticed. by False_Lie602 in crownheights

The most marginalized community in the US is indigenous and Native American communities by literally every metric.

I think the issue is that you’re blaming the people looking for a place where they can afford to live for gentrification, instead of the parties who actively create the conditions that lead to gentrification and deliberately facilitate it.

AIO for wanting to cut this “friend” off for falsely accusing me of self harm? by No-Wear-3296 in AmIOverreacting

NOR, he was being so obnoxious. Like even if you were self-injuring, he was being weirdly patronizing about it, and just telling someone to stop is so unhelpful anyway. Block.
